It was nearly dark as she walked along the side walk. Her brunette hair bounced with each step. She knew about vampires and how they roamed around at night. They would be waking soon, and she was the only one out... the only sorce of blood for them. Her house was still a few blocks away. She looked up at the sky. The sun was just disappearing on the horizon. She didn't have enough time to make it home before the people of night came out...
I walked quickly down the sidewalk. I didn't have much time to get to my house, three blocks away, before the vampires came out. I looked around wildly as I walked on. Maybe they wouldn't find me before I got home. Unlikely. A vampire's nose was better than any animals. They could find me with one sniff. I told myself as I sped up, hoping to lessen the time it would take me to get home.
All I wanted right now was the safeness of my beautiful home. The security of being inside. I looked up at the sky. The sun had gone down and the moon was coming up. I was still two blocks away. I moved into the shadows, hoping that I blended into the night.

Brisk strides carried a slender woman out of an old abandoned building and onto the streets, to where the moon was just beginning to peek out from the horizon. A feeling close to love exploded within Saundra's chest as she gazed upon her surroundings. There was nothing better than the coming night. Nothing better than a full moon washing away all color, and leaving everything in greyscale. It made her want to skip with pure delight. Instead of giving into the whim, Saundra whisked along the sidewalk, glancing every which way for some...company. She'd just awakened so, of course she was quite hungry. Too bad that everyone had left, it seemed as if humans were getting wiser to the vampire's ways. She glanced in an old alley. Drat, empty. Frowning with irritation, Saundra stopped and sniffed the air delicately. The delicious scent of a nearby person wafted toward her, sending the woman into shivers of desire. Along with the scent of the person, came the scent of their blood. Trekking along this way and that, she finally spotted another woman, who seemed to be walking...home? A savage smile crossed her lips as the thought ran along her brain, too late... Fairly dancing, she came up beside the woman quickly, slinging her arm around the woman's shoulders Saundra grinned in her face, baring her fangs to the world and practically shouted a greeting. "Hi there! What's a girl like you still doing out?" Dropping her arm, she danced ahead of the woman before spinning around like a ballerina and standing with her hands on her hips and a smile stretching her lips. As Saundra's icy blue eyes locked upon the woman's hunger reared its ugly head inside of her. Saundra's gaze trailed down the woman's face, lingering on her throat. The woman's pulse was beating quite fast. From the adrenaline of the walk? Or...was it her? Was she afraid? Saundra's body coiled like a snake waiting to strike, she wanted so badly to take the woman in her arms and satisfy her blood lust. So badly did Saundra want it that she had to close her eyes as not to see the lovely brunette standing mere feet away. Of course she could still smell her. It was terribly hard to stop herself from just striding forward and gaining instant gratifaction. It wasn't right for her to pick and choose who got to live or die, but choose she did. That's what she needed, a purely moral thought to snap back some more of the humanity that had almost completely deserted her. Finally under control once more, her eyes snapped open, locking with the woman's. Stalking forward a few steps, she stretched out an an arm, in an offering to shake the others hand. "I'm Saundra." Why did she feel this need to know the woman? Why did she want to go through this agonizing wait for a meal? Saunder didn't know, but figured it might be worth the wait.

I jumped and cringed a little as the girl came up, spoke, and smiled. The smile was what made me cring. She was a vampire and she had her arm around me. What could I do now? Nothing really... just look death in the face and smile. She danced ahead of me and I let my breath escape my lungs. She closed her eyes and my mind screamed at me, RUN! Run while you have a chance! But, sadly, I couldn't run. There were several reasons why, but one was that this girl was a vampire, so she was faster and stronger than me. I took a step back, but where was I going to go?
I was confused when she offered her hand to me and gave me her name. A vampire wanting to know a human? Not likely. Maybe she just wanted to know so that she could give people my name and how I dyed... like she was a witness... I sighed and said,"My name is Lauren. Now, please... I'm just trying to get home. May I go?" I asked the question, but didn't wait for an answer. I started to walk toward home again. To the safe, secure place where I would be able to lock the doors and windows and then not have to worry about anything...

Lauren hadn't returned Saundra's gesture of friendship. Of course, why would a vampire want to have a human friend anyway? She honestly didn't, she just felt the urge to get to know the human before taking her life, to full her own. Lauren's and everyone else's blood was her addiction. Her calling... her way of living. Was it unfair that girls like Lauren had to die to feed a vampire? Saundra didn't think so. The survival of the fittest and all that jazz. Her good mood had evaporated like a water droplet on a scorching day. A snarl ripped its way up her throat and from between her clenched jaws. Irrational though she may be, you don't avoid a handshake! Her blue eyes were as hard as flint as they tracked contemptuous down the woman's frame and back up to her warm, chocolate eyes. Her body was ridged, seemingly carved from marble as she had no heartbeat. She had no heat...only the cold flesh of a walking, 'living' corpse. "That was the rudest, most stupid thing you could've done, girl." The words were spat like stones as the anger rolled through her. As the woman dubbed Lauren began walking toward, what was obviously her home, again, Saundra's eyebrows rose in incredulous disbelief. Amusement warred with anger until finally a small, silvery laugh escaped her as the amusement won. She didn't say a word as the woman passed her, heading toward her home. She was silent and quite still, only her eyes tracking the progress Lauren made around her, a small smile still etched upon her pale lips. The night time breeze circled through the area, stirring the woman's hair and causing a sweet shampoo scent to envelop Saundra. Her eyes frosted over as she smelled it, and unable to stop herself, she moved forward, now following Lauren. "Stop..." The word was pure seduction, a command uttered in almost silence. Of course it wasn't the woman herself that Saundra desired. It was her blood. She slid closer, moving so fluidly as only a vampire could until she was standing in front of her. So close that Lauren's frightened breathing fanned against Saundra's cold face. Warming it... her hand reached out until her fingertips slid down the woman's warm cheek. She wanted nothing more than to embrace her, to end the woman's life at that instant. To be able to feel the warmth of Lauren's life giving blood. Nearly drowning in the urge to sink her teeth into her warm, giving flesh, Saundra had to back away. Not even realizing it, she'd grasped the woman's shoulders, pulling her closer even as she let her go. Snapping her teeth together, Saundra pulled back, dropping her arms and crossing them against her chest. "Why leave?" The whispered words were pain filled, no longer angry, no longer amused...she ached. It physically hurt to keep resisting. If Saundra kept pushing herself, she'd lose control eventually, but she didn't care... She liked playing the game and really didn't want it to end so soon.
ooc; I'm not sure if that little bit of touching she did was powerplay or not.. O.o If it is and you'd rather it taken out of the post, I will.

I rolled my eyes as the vampire became angry. I walked swiftly away from her and toward my home, making good progress. I was almost home when she told me to stop. I could see my house. The warm, safe place where I wouldn't have to worry about this vampire. My beautiful light blue house, not far away, but still too far. The vampire moved toward me. She was so close that my breath brushed her marble face.
She reached a cold, marble hand out andbrushed my cheek. My heart was beating fast and hard. I knew this was the end for me. What a horrible way to die... walking home, a vampire comes along and they drink your blood... yeah life really sucked for me right now... a life that wouldn't last long.
Her question... it confused me even more, but she had dropped her hand and stepped back, so I was realived. I turned and began walking home again as I responded to her question. "Because I would rather not get eaten by a vampire right now. I'm only 22, I haven't even had a chance to live my life." I said, walking quickly and almost too quietly. And then a thought hit me. A thought about a vampire. A beautiful brunette vampire with chocalate eyes. A thought of me being a vampire. I didn't nesisarily want it, but if it meant living, I might have to do it...
