She dug in deeper before she pulled away, teeth dripping in his blood. A snarl gave him a warning before she noticed that he wouldn't be able to complain anyways. Kyon's mouth was pressed against his, similar to the way Sage had seen humans and the occassional werewolf or vampire pairs in the park. There was something wrong with this though. Clearly Barnes was in no way pleased with this arrangement. It caused the wolf to tilt her head curiously. Aren't couples supposed to be slightly smiling, or at least have the atmosphere of pleasure while doing this action? Plus it didn't even fit in with the situation. Rarely was pleasure of the mouth mingled with so much blood. Perhaps, unless, one is talking of a vampire clenching his or her thirst.
The smell of awaiting death was stronger once Kyon had finished with the man. “Sagey deary, would an arm interest you? Or perhaps his other leg?” A twist in her stomach rendered the wolf incapable of responding. The man looked completely pale by now; as pale as Kyon herself. Beads of sweat and the thick scent of fever dripped from his skin, and everynow and then, the man would be wracked with shivers of both pain and the fever that wouldn't kill him.
The wolf's long pink tongue licked the blood closest to the entrance of her muzzle. She brought her eyes up to Kyon's and her ears flattened. A high whine of uncertainty escaped her, ending in a quiet 'woof'. Her tail tucked between her legs and she backed away with her head down, glancing between Kyon and the man and the door. Another whine escaped her as she lay by the door, glancing sullenly at the floor. Her stomach was clenching, the sweet taste of blood turning sour in her mouth.
Quite suddenly the idea of killing this man made the wolf sick to her stomach. She felt disgusted with herself, and with each second of staring at the floor, the feeling of nausea increased. Drool dribbled from her mouth, until she could feel the sickening feeling rising. Blood and digested chunks of meat landed on the ground as she wretched it up. She stood, head hanging low as her stomach continued heaving. Nothing else came out.
Another whine escaped her and she slunk away from the mess on the floor, laying on a patch of carpet as far away from the slow killing as possible. She rested her head between her paws, watching Kyon with sullen eyes. Her tail half-heartedly thumped against the ground, before she huffed and glanced away. She didn't wish to be here anymore, and was eager for the kill to be made so they could leave.

(( Mm, at least you got this one up, yay! ))
Kyon’s smile fell a bit as Sage’s reaction to her suggestion did not meet her expectations. Wasn’t this girl a hunter? Could she not barely control herself? Apparently, these thoughts had been wrong as the wolf did not yip happily and jump toward the sweating, blob of a man . The whine and flattening of ears told the vampire that this was no longer enjoyable to the girl, she just wanted to get out of her, though the reason escaped her. This was about as entertaining as it got, in the woman’s book, having some pervert locked in a chair to torture and get paid for it afterward. That was just Kyon’s idea of a perfect Friday night, though it was Wednesday. All the better, really, she could have another fun night in two day’s time. However, this night had been ruined. Her mouth was now set in a thin frown as she stared down at the wolf, hating the pitiful-ness of the way her tail slid between her legs as she lay down by the door, asking in her dog-like way to be let out. Why should this affect the wolf so much? She was a fucking animal, they didn’t have consciences! But now she was forgetting that she wasn’t merely an animal, she werewolf and she had that human side of her, even if she rarely took it on or acknowledged it, it was still there, giving her an idea of what was wrong and what was right. To most people, what was happening in that room was so very very wrong, could even make them throw up…
Of course, Sage had to do just that. The vampire looked away as soon as the creature had tilted her head in that way dogs did when they had to retch, and turned her eyes to the man whose neck was still in her grasp. “Sorry, hon,” she growled, lifting her dagger from him. “we’ll have to cut this short.” For a split second, Finley looked relieved, thinking that they would just leave him now, alive, but then Kyon raised her knife and stabbed it deep into the side of his fat neck, causing surprise to cross his expression. One of the woman’s hands clamped itself over his mouth to keep him quiet until he passed out from blood loss and she secured her lips around the wound, sucking up the blood that gushed from it as fast as she was able. In a minute or so, her stomach was completely full and she couldn’t take another drop, though the man wasn’t absolutely dead yet. Not wanting to risk him waking up as a vampire, she lifted her weapon once more and made a slashed open his neck wide to let the rest of the blood flow out before also stabbing him in the heart, just incase he didn’t loose enough blood.
Finished with the job, though not entirely satisfied, thanks to her new found companion, she stowed her dagger in her jacket pocket. Now she had to find a way to clean up so that the two could leave without being stopped or followed immediately. Grumbling a bit and stepping over to Sage, she rummaged in one of her coat pockets to pull out a handkerchief. Thankfully, it was rather clean and so the woman was able to wipe down most of her face and hands, though her skin was still a bit stained. If she moved fast, she was sure they would be fine and hopefully none of the vampires there would smell Barnes’ blood… Suddenly, going back through the main entrance did not seem so smart; she’d have to find them a back door, even if it was a fire escape and they set an alarm off.
“We’ve got to go quick,” she informed Sage, not looking to her, still being peeved at her change of heart. “just follow me and keep your head down.” Not bothering to check that the wolf had understood her, Kyon opened the office door slowly, peeking down both ends of the hall to check that no one was there. It was empty and so she took a step into the open space, keeping the door cracked open long enough for Sage to slip out before letting it slip back into place. Down on one end of the hall was a fire escape, as she expected, the other, just another office door. Fire escape it was then, and they’d have to move fast. “Run when I open the door,” she glanced down at the wolf by her side, “go straight to the car.” This instruction was important, she didn’t want to get thrown in jail for murder and fraternizing with a werewolf, so she waited for a sign of comprehension from Sage.

Sage's ears drooped at the obvious disappointment from Kyon. She had failed her master, and there was no feeling worse then that. Her eyes stared at the floor, almost as though pouting, while Kyon cleaned herself up. The annoyance practically radiated from the vampire, and Sage glanced up with half-hopeful eyes. She was left to be greatly disappointed when she found that Yon wouldn't even look at her. “We've got to go quick.” The woman told her, and Sage was on her paws in an instant. “Just follow me and keep your head down.” With a halfhearted trot, the wolf was at the door and ready to move and for action.
Despite their obvious disagreements over killing, the two moved rather fluidly from the room. After a quick command, Sage gave a slight bow of her head, indicating she was ready to leave. It wasn't difficult at all to keep up to the vampire's fast jog to the fire escape. After a click of the doors, there was a pause. Sage measured about two hesitant heart beats, her ears swivelling for other sounds of on-comers, and then the door was open and the two bolted. A loud, but low pitched buzz filled the air. That only convinced the werewolf to run faster, darting to the car then clambering in through Kyon's door. The vampire wasn't even a second behind her, and Sage -calmer now- moved to the back seat.
She knew she probably wasn't allowed, but she placed her paws on the back seat, gazing out the back window with her ears perked forward. Muffled, the sound of frantic calls as they found the body reached her ears. It wouldn't be too long before the air would be split with the shrill scree of sirens. Sage gave a woof before glancing back, almost as though to tell Kyon to hurry it up. As soon as the sound left her, the car started, and within moments they were screeching off. The werewolf had just enough time to look up and spot a human -or perhaps a vampire or werewolf- running after them. Human, vampire, or werewolf wouldn't be able to catch a quickly accelerating car, though, so the wolf watched as the figure disappeared as they turned a sharp corner.
Not even seconds following the turning of the corner, the werewolf heard the distant, but very obvious, sound of sirens. Ducking to the floor, the werewolf lay down, gazing up at Kyon's face. The car slowed and melted into the traffic. Melted away from the adrenaline and fear and disgust. They wouldn't be caught. Not today, not tomorrow; maybe sometime in the far future when the case was opened by a persistent detective. That would be a long time, though, and until then Sage wouldn't worry. She didn't know how to worry over things that involved the future. The only thing the werewolf was seriously concerned with was the present.
A quiet whine left her and she raised her head to gently flick her tongue over Kyon's arm. Sorry. Laying her head onto her paws, the wolf stared at the door. Her ears were tilted to the sides, listening to the sound of air raging against the vehicle. Eventually her eyes fluttered closed, slowly being lulled by the vibrations of the moving car. Her ears continued to keep tabs of what she couldn't see. She figured they would probably drive for a while. Possibly out of the city.
While it was typical for a murderer to run, it was also incredibly simple and effective. Cops couldn't scour the world for a single -or two- killers. They had enough petty crimes to keep them busy. This crime, like many others, would be left unsolved. These weren't the thoughts that scoured Sage's mind, though. She was more concerned with the feeling of the air in the car. Kyon was upset with her.
Maybe they could go to a park. Play. Have fun. Hopefully Sage wouldn't lose a Master as soon as she found one. Feeling the car begin to slow, Sage's eyes snapped open and she pushed herself to a sitting position. Her eyes watched the woman in the front seat, head tilting to the side as though to ask 'What's the plan now?'

Barely a milisecond after the slight dip of Sage's head, indicating that she understood what her master had asked of her, Kyon had swung around back toward the fire exit and was soon moving at a fast jog. She didn't worry about the wolf following her; she wouldn't want to be left behind and receive all of the blame for the murder. It was just best to run, even if by doing so you alerted your pursuers to your whereabouts. This is just what they did as soon as the heavy metal door at the end of the hall was pushed open. The two were barley a step outside before the deep buzzing of the alarm went off, and almost immediately behind that yells could be heard. All of this noise irritated the vampire's sensitive ears and pushed her to move faster, to the point where she almost overtook Sage, whose long strides enabled her to run faster.
There was no time to really pay attention to any of this though, as Kyon was purely intent on getting the hell out of there. Her keys were out before they even reached the car and with the press of a button, the doors were all unlocked. The woman hit the side of the vehicle with a soft thump and swung open the driver's side door, letting the wolf jump in before she herself slid into her place behind the wheel. Without any regard toward her safety –meaning that she completely ignored her seatbelt- she slammed her foot onto the accelerator as soon as the engine came to life, sending the car careening toward the main road to which the parking lot connected. A sharp turn, that almost managed to cause the wheels to spin out, pulled the vehicle into the far lane of the road, which was thankfully near deserted tonight.
Paying no heed to the far off sounds of sirens coming up behind them, Kyon sped on down the road, eyes fixed straight ahead on where she was heading and her mouth set in a serious frown. The woman should have been elated with her kill, especially seeing as it would bring in a fat check, but Sage had ruined her high, had brought her back down to earth before any of those feelings from the murder had sunk in. Well, fuck her, the useless animal. The vampire glanced down to the wolf as she felt the soft pad of her tongue on her skin. The pathetic nature of this action caused a flash of anger to race through Kyon’s chest and she immediately turned back to the road, her hands clenching themselves tight around the steering wheel. This sort of rage demanded another kill tonight, which she would gladly oblige, if only for the sake of Sage. There was a certainty in her that if she didn’t release all of this pent up rage then she may beat her new ‘pet’, making her even less competent than the girl’s previous master.
As they now hit traffic, Kyon tried to calm herself a bit before she called her commander to tell him if she’d fucked anything up or not. Really, it had gone off rather well; it was inevitable that the authorities would get involved sooner or later. But the woman hadn’t been satisfied at all. Her thoughts would always come back to that. It was like not reaching orgasm during sex or leaving an all-you-can-eat buffet hungry, leaving one frustrated and enraged. She had it decided now that as soon as they got home, she’d get Sage comfortable at the apartment then run off to find a new victim, one that she could thoroughly enjoy.
Within a half an hour the vampire was pulling her car into the back parking lot to her apartment complex. Most people, she imagined, would run away from home after murdering someone, so that they couldn’t be tracked down and ‘brought to justice’. There was no chance of that happening to Kyon though, she was completely protected by Izan and as far as the police were concerned, she didn’t even exist, giving her full range to do as wished. And she could always pay people off to leave her be if she needed.
Sighing deeply and running a hand through her slightly sticky hair, having gotten blood in it, the woman pulled out her cell phone, ignoring the wolf now staring up at her. She dialed Jerald’s number and only waited two rings before he picked up. “Hello, yes it’s Girard.” He liked to call her by her last name for an odd reason; it might be his slight racism against asian cultures, which she’d never figured out. Leaning into the steering wheel, she listened to the man’s usual shpeel, about cleaning up afterward and payment, though none of it got through to her anymore. “Yah, yah,” she mumbled, closing her eyes. “Sure, I’ll come in tomorrow.” She lifted herself up, bringing her mind out of a sort of stupor, and looked down at Sage. “Yes, of course, and what about the last check?” Her last payment hadn’t come in yet, which was quite a rarity as it was usually in her bank account with two days of a kill and her previous assassination had been nine days ago. “Fine, alright, yes, I understand.” She paused, opening her door. “We’ll discuss it tomorrow then. Goodbye.”
Hanging up her phone then shoving it into her pocket, Kyon turned her eyes to Sage, surveying the wolf with calmer, more forgiving eyes. “Let’s get ourselves cleaned up then.” This was almost said without a hint of malice, very good. After her pet had jumped out of the car, she locked it all up, made sure everything was in order, and then moved to the back entrance, so that no one would notice the blood on both of them. Not that she expected to encounter anyone at this time of night besides other vampires, who would absolutely understand the blood, though the wolf at her side would be hard to explain. Thankfully, the two encounter no one on the way up to the apartment, and once inside, the woman was able to shed herself of her blood spattered jacket and shirt, still smelling strongly of Finley.

Sage's paws shifted in the back, ears perked in interest while Kyon spoke on her cell phone. The vampire sounded annoyed. Something about a payment and money. Sage, herself, never understood the concept of 'money'. It was a familiar word she had heard more often since she'd been living on the streets, and apparently her new Master had a certain mindset when it came to the subject. In Sage's eyes, if someone didn't get it for you, then you had to. For, example, food. When she ran from the house, Sage was left to starve, until she learned the art (if one could even call it that) of scavenging. She'd seen other werewolves, vampires, even alley cats hunt, but she herself never seemed to be able to completely get the hang of it. Sure, the odd rabbit or stupid squirrel, or even a rat or mouse, was easy and fair game. If Sage had ever seen something like a deer, however, it's almost certain she wouldn't know how to catch the damned thing, let alone kill it without getting her skull pummlled in.
“We'll discuss it tomorrow then. Goodbye.” To Sage's ears that sounded a little more like a “go crawl in a hole and die you %6$#*^$ arse” kind of a 'bye'. Her head tilted curiously before her tail gave a gentle thud of encouragement.
“Let's get ourselves get cleaned up then.” Tail wagging slightly more vigorously, Sage stood and followed Kyon out of the car. The wolf was about to head towards the front when Kyon veered towards the back. Tilting her head up and trotting alongside the vampire, Sage gave her a curious look as they made their way in through the laundry room, and up the back steps. Darting ahead of her, the werewolf sat by the door, balancing on her hind legs with her front paws up. She let out a small whine, waiting for Kyon to open the door before she squeezed in.
The smell was comforting, though it was tainted with the sharp tang of blood. Flopping onto the floor, Sage began licking her paws, cleaning off remaining blood. Her head perked up as Kyon made her way to the bathroom, and then she returned to her cleaning. The largest amount of blood was dried along the front of her neck and muzzle. Rubbing her paws against her muzzle, the wolf was able to get some of the blood off, though she eventually had to give up and quietly waited for Kyon to finish.
For an impatient werewolf, she was taking an aweful long time. Every second seemed to draw out for ages, and within less then a minute Sage was on her paws and pacing about the kitchen. She was slightly thirsty. Her ear twitched with a slight drip, and Sage glanced up across the kitchen. The facet had a tiny, quivering water droplet hanging from the tip. As she watched, it dragged downwards until it fell, making another 'plink!' sound inside the metal sink. Her head tilted to the side and she padded over. She glanced over at the bathroom door and hearing the shower still running, looked back to the dripping sink. The wolf repeated this looking to and fro action for a few moments until she decided that Kyon was, infact, tied up in the shower and wouldn't notice if Sage were on the counter.
Pushing herself up until her front paws landed on the edge of the counter, Sage leaned forward, intently watching the tap. The little water droplett shivered, and then began to drag down. Her silvery-greenish eyes were focused like a cat's on a mouse. Just as the droplett was about to drop, Sage's head lunged forward at it, her tongue flicking out to catch the little bit of water. The drop spread out over her mouth and she swallowed it down. The thirst grew worse, and with a whine she licked the facet again. And again, and again, and again... until she came to realize there wasn't any water.
Pulling her head back, Sage watched the tap until a tiny droplett formed, quivered, and fell into the sink. Sage's head tilted to the side, her tail half-heartedly wagging as she watched the sink. Another droplett formed and her tongue darted forward, catching it. Once again she licked it a number of times before realizing there was no more water, and she pulled her head back, whining and wagging her tail. When another droplett never appeared, she gave an impatient bark, then tilted her head to the side and waited.

Kyon paid no attention to Sage once they had gotten into the apartment, she was just concerned with getting herself cleaned up. The wolf would always come second, because if the woman was displeased with her own state, then the animal would be mistreated as Kyon always directed his discontent and rage outwards, never inwards, that was self destructive. And so, even though Sage was obviously uncomfortable with something, the vampire simply brushed past her and hurried into the bathroom where she could strip herself of the blood spattered jeans that she sported. She really should have been mote careful as to where all the blood had been going, but for the first time in a while, she hadn’t been completely thinking. The wolf by her side had made her too excited for a kill, and then had only lead to a bigger let down when it turned out the animal did no enjoy the same sort of tortuous killing as her master. It was a huge shame, as they couldn’t go out serious hunting together, but they’d just have to work through it. Kyon wasn’t so sure why, but she felt obligated to take care of the girl, now that she had invited her into her home, cleaned her, given her a new collar, fed her… She was most definitely a pet.
The vampire took her sweet time with her shower. She stood for the longest time just letting the water run over her, hoping the spray would get most of the human’s fowl smelling blood off of her so that she wouldn’t have to get anymore of it on her hands and have everything she touch smell like blood for the next few hours after. However, when she went to shampoo her dark hair, the suds that washed out was still tinged with pink; diluted blood mixed with the pearly white shampoo. Because of this, she spent a while washing and rewashing her hair, to make sure nothing would still smell of Finley’s blood later on, especially her hands. Her body did not concern her as much, as she obviously didn’t spend a lot of time with her nose near her knees or something. Though she did make an effort to assure that there were no pink blood stains anywhere on her, there was a pink blotch on the side of her arm and she scrubbed at it until her entire arm was red and irritated, at least the mark was gone, or just invisible.
When the woman was finally finished, she simply wrapped herself up in a soft towel and her hair in a small towel before exiting the bathroom. The first thing that caught her eye was Sage, her paws up on the counter. “Sage!” she snapped at the wolf, walking briskly over to the animal. “Get down.” She made a soft hissing, clicking noise between her teeth as she stepped to the girl and grabbed the scruff of her neck to yank her onto the ground. Holding her towel up with one hand and frowning slightly, she stared down at Sage, silently daring her to move. But then she let out a deep, resigned sigh, forcing herself to be a bit compassionate. She could hear the drip- drip- drip- of the faucet behind her; the werewolf must have just been thirsty and been trying to get a drink. This was very understandable as the girl hadn’t drunk more than a few mouthfuls in the past few days, and that had been when she was human.
Sighing again and rubbing a hand over her face, Kyon made her way to a cupboard and pulled out a large metal bowl. “Don’t do that again,” she told the animal, turning narrowed eyes to her for a few seconds before turning to the sink and filling up the bowl halfway with water. Before she put the bowl down, she watched the tap a while, and sure enough it started to drip. It was slow, yes, but it still indicated that there was a leak and the plumbing would have to be fixed. This damn building was falling apart, she needed to move. She could afford it too; the only thing holding her back was that this location was a prime spot for reaching her ‘clients’.
A third sigh left her at this and she turned then bent to place the bowl on the floor for Sage to drink up. “You need to learn how to hunt differently,” the woman muttered, crossing her arms over her chest to keep her towel up, “If you even know how to hunt…” It had just dawned on her that this wolf didn’t even know how to hunt properly. She had the killer instinct for sure, but it was very possible that it had never been honed to suit a hunter’s needs. Certainly it was very plausible that Sage was only used to scavenging, as the city provided many opportunities for that and Kyon could see reasons why her old owners had not wanted her to know how to really hunt. While the woman wasn’t even close to being a werewolf, she was sure that she could show this girl a thing or two about taking down prey, and she did deserve that, being handed such a rough deal in life.

You know that frightened feeling you get when you’re caught? Like when you were, say, five, and snuck downstairs at midnight to steal those delicious freshly baked, warm chocolate chip cookies. Your mother silently followed you down –unbeknownst to you- and scared you the second your little fingers finally got a hold of that cookie and you were about to take a bite of delicious victory. That was the feeling that shocked Sage into stillness when Kyon sharply called her name. Rough hands gripped the scruff of her neck and pulled her down. The wolf didn’t whimper, but merely backed away slightly, ears and head down, tail tucked between her legs. She couldn’t meet the stern look of her master.
Eventually, though, Kyon’s gaze backed off and she retrieved a metal bowl. The werewolf’s head lifted, her tail wagging softly from side-to-side as though apologizing for acting bad. “Don’t do that again.” Sage lowered her head, making a low growling/moaning sound, wagging her tail slightly as though to say ’Okay’. When the water bowl was filled with water, Sage began whining, eager to slurp up the water. She was thirsty, incredibly thirsty.
When the bowl was lowered, the canine dove for it, lapping it up like there was no tomorrow. She barely listened as Kyon quietly spoke about hunting. At the moment, she didn’t care. Sage had finally gotten her water and that was about all that mattered to her until she had appeased her thirst. Within a few minutes, the bowl was empty, and Sage was satisfied. When she was as thirsty as she had been, she wasted no time.
Slowly, as she was licking the last droplets from the bowl, Kyon's words sunk into her head. Her head tilted to the side. Hunt? Why ever would she need to know how to hunt? She had everything she needed here. Company, food, water, something to do. Apparently the vampire disagreed. Oh well, the werewolf would humour her. She wagged her tail slightly. Learning how to hunt could be fun. Turning her head to the window, she noted there were a few more good hours in the night. Why not hunt now?
Giving a small bark, Sage darted to the door and jumped around eagerly. Her nails made scratching noises on the door as she lifted a paw against it and let it fall. Laying down suddenly, the wolf rested her head on her paws, watching Kyon with raised eyebrows and expecting eyes. When there was lack of an immediate response, she rolled onto her bag, wiggling with her tongue dangling out and her tail brushing against the wall.

(( Oh, psh. x3 I did so already though. ))
At first, it didn't seem that the wolf had even heard what Kyon had said, but once she had picked her head up from the bowl, having drained all the water, she looked up to her master, tail wagging from one side to another. Then a tiny bark escaped her and the woman chuckled softly, watching the girl trot on over to the front door, as if to say "Let's go, let's go! Allons-y!"
"In a little while," the vampire smiled, walking over to Sage then bending down. "I need to get rested up a bit." She reached out and scratched the animal's furry hip before getting back to her feet and moving to her bedroom. In truth, she wasn't tired, didn't need to rest per-say, but her mind wasn't in the right state to go hunting again. Yes, it would be nice to actually satisfy the insane killer in her head, yet at the moment, it was sulking in the back of her mind, being very disappointed in Sage.
Dropping her towel outside of the bathroom, to easier put it away, she went straight to her wardrobe and pulled out underwear, tight jeans, and a dark t-shirt; a perfect outfit for hunting as it was easy to move in and it was very difficult to stain with blood. Not that she intended to get any blood on herself, that would be for Sage. The wolf didn't need to learn how to hunt properly, but she would need something to do during the days while the woman was sleeping if she didn't adjust her schedule to fit her new master's. Not that she would sleep for all that time anyway. During high summer it would especially difficult for Safe to sit around the apartment all day, as daytime would drag on and on. Oddly enough, Kyon always slept all the way through the day, unless of course she was woken up, so it saved her the boredom of waiting for the sun to drop out of the sky. The wolf would not be so lucky. She might have to get a doggy door for her, just in case.
Stretching her arms a bit, Kyon moved back to the living room and plopped down on the one sofa there. A faint aroma of singed flesh caught her as she sat, causing her to grimace slightly, but it soon passed and the only thing she could smell any longer was Sage. It would still be wise to clean the couch though, just to make sure, despite the smell being a very strong reminder to Kyon not to fall asleep before daybreak, out in the open, again.
For a good half of an hour, the vampire sat practically motionless, her eyes half-closed and fixed on the tv in front of her, though she wasn't actually looking at it. Her mind was left to rest or wander, whatever it wished really, she didn't try to think at all, and so her 'pet' was completely ignored and free to do what she wanted while her master did absolutely nothing. Only was the woman finally pulled out of her stupor when that acrid smell of cooked skin reached her once more. She stood up to move away from the sofa and sauntered to the front door, picking up her jacket on the way and pulling out her keys.
"Come on Sage," she called softly, beckoning the animal to her side. "We'll find you some nice hobos to chase down, hm?" Kyon smirked slightly, opening the front door and letting the wolf out first before swinging the door shut behind her and locking it. Back to the car then, she thought, taking the stairs down to the main floor two at a time.
