There’s a total of three different species on RoO. Keep in mind that there a no half-breeds. In addition, each species has its weaknesses and strengths over the other, but they are not invincible. Both vampire and werewolves are immortal, but humans remain mortal. No species are god and we try to keep things as realistic as possible. With this in mind, no one has any powers, so don’t give them any.
WEREWOLVES
Werewolves can only transform into wolves. They appear to be larger versions of a wolf you would find in the wild, they are also far ‘sturdier’ with far more muscle. There cannot be halfbreeds and cannot transform into any other animal other than a wolf. This means no cats, lions, dogs etc. Just wolves.
The colour of the wolf’s coat is dependent on what the colour of your CHARACTER’s hair is. This means that if your character has black hair, your wolf would be black also. Eyes are more liberal and tend to change to an amber/hazel colour in wolf form, no matter the eye-colour in human form.
Shifting form is not a quick and painless process. The form of your body is CHANGING and bones are disappearing and new ones are growing. This process takes at least 20 MINUTES and is very painful. The older and more experienced the wolf, the less time it takes to shift, however the process will never take less than 5 minutes.
Werewolves are immortal and normally stop ageing entirely when bitten. However, if they are a born werewolf they will continue aging until they reach the age of 18. Bitten werewolves cannot be younger than 10 or older than 45 as their bodies would be too fragile to survive the bite. Werewolves never look younger than 18 or older than 30.
If hair is dyed in human form or if a tattoo is painted in human form then these WOULD appear in the wolf form. However, the tattoo would appear as only a patch of hairless skin in the area the tattoo is (tattoo on stomach = bare skin on a patch of stomach). Dyed hair only applies to the place where the hair is dyed. (Pink hair = pink fur on the top of the wolf’s head). Piercing is IMPOSSIBLE for wolves.
Clothes will rip apart when shifting. You’re basically naked.
Werewolves CANNOT reproduce with vampires, nor would they want to. The event of such a birth would be stillborn. Werewolves are severely allergic to Vampire flesh and ingesting any of it would result in death.
They are immune to any common disease. Born werewolves to not inherit bone diseases etc, and bitten werewolves would not have diseases impairing health (bone disease, multiple sclerosis etc) as they would not survive the change.
Only 40% of humans bitten will survive the change. Children younger than 10 and adults older than 45 will NOT survive the change and anybody with a severe health problem will not survive the change either.
Werewolves CANNOT speak to each other telepathically while in wolf form, they must use animalistic forms of communication: growling, barking, biting etc. In wolf form they are NOT human and while they can understand language, they cannot use it.
While they are immortal, they can be killed by any physical malady that can kill a human (bullet to the head, etc) but they are also allergic to silver bullets. Any such encounter will be VERY difficult to heal and will result in death if the bullet pierces their heart, head or lung.
Werewolves heal quicker than humans.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
About Werewolves:† AGE & CHANGING - Someone over the age of 40 has no possible way to survive to change to a werewolf. Someone over the age of 30, and younger than 40, can survive the change, however they are more likely to have problems with shifting to their wolf form than the average werewolf.
† ILLNESSES - They cannot obtain illnesses like HIV, cancer, diabetes or any kind of heart diseases. If a human were to have one of these diseases and is bitten by a werewolf, when they change they are more likely to die. However, if they do survive the change, there would probably be a number of conditions attached. For example, a werewolf that previously had osteosarcoma is more likely to have weak and brittle bones that wouldn’t support any hard blows.
† PREGNANCY - A female werewolf could get pregnant in her wolf shape, however this does not mean the child would be born as a wolf because of this. What would determine the shape in which the child is born is the mother’s own shape at the time of birth. Keep in mind that there would be no shifting after the initial three months of pregnancy or this could ensue a miscarriage.
† PREGNANCY - A werewolf cannot breed with a dog, that’s just silly. They cannot breed with vampires either.
† SHAPES - In case this still hasn’t been made clear, werewolves only exist with a wolf-like form, appearing like your average gray wolf or other similar species, except werewolves are larger. Also remember that foxes, cats, squirrels, bears, snails, ants, giraffes, horses, lions, cheetahs, dogs or whatever other animal you can think for are not wolves.
† STRONG EMOTIONS = SHIFTING? - In most cases the answer would be no! However if it’s a werewolf with some kind of mental condition, like anger issues, this can trigger the shifting. Also, young and inexperienced werewolves are more likely to have less control over their shifting than older werewolves. Now keep in mind that a werewolf of one hundred years would have very good control over their shifting.
† FULL MOON, MUZZLE TO THE SKY? - Absolutely NOT. The full moon has no effect whatsoever on werewolves, however a werewolf’s vision is better during the full moon but it’s because that’s the night were we have more natural light sources!
† WOLF SENSES (HUMAN SHAPE) - Werewolves in human form only have human senses. Occasionally there will be one werewolf that when in human form they will be able to identify a certain sound better than most humans, but keep in mind that it would be practically the same thing like when there’s a certain human with sharper hearing than the rest.
† WOLF SENSES (WOLF SHAPE) - A werewolf’s senses are changed dramatically after shifting. They are sharpened even more than your average canine. Some werewolves may even behave more like wolves than humans, however they are still the same person.
† POPULATION - Around the world there are more vampires than werewolves because humans who are changed into a werewolf have a lesser chance of survival than when changed into a vampire.
† POPULATION: VAMPS & WERES - However, this does not mean that in cities ruled by werewolves will have more vampires. On the contrary, countries ruled by werewolves normally don’t have a vampire population exceeding ten or so. Vampires in werewolf land are normally threatened, hunted, killed, abused and eventually driven out of town.
† LONDON POPULATION - In London the werewolf-vampire census is pretty balanced, containing nearly the same quantity of vampires and werewolves, however the majority of werewolves posses money or strong influence within the government.
† IS HE OR SHE A WEREWOLF? - The average person cannot tell whether a certain person is a werewolf. However, by sense of smell and other such characteristics, an observant vampire can tell. But remember it's hard to do so because it would mostly be the faint scent of dog on their clothes, any human who has a dog and hugged it during the morning would carry the faint smell of dog of them too.
† WERES & PETS - Dogs, cats or other domestic animals do not feel uncomfortable around werewolves unless they are threatened, which means that they will treat said werewolf just like they would a human. If the animal isn’t fond of people, it will attack a werewolf in much the same way it would attack a human, however if the animal is used to people, it might draw near the werewolf in order to be petted, etc etc.
† MEMORY - Werewolves have excellent memory, especially when it comes to a certain sense of smell or a particular sound.
† HEIGHTENED SENSES - Werewolves possess the best senses of smell and taste.
† SHIFTING - The werewolf shifting is PAINFUL and not to mention TIRING. People, you are reshaping all your bones, which is stressful and it is not something that will just go away. Try breaking a bone and putting it back together, then you get a basic idea of how much it hurts!
† DEATH – Werewolves can be killed basically in the same way you kill a human. Drowning, chopping their head off, massive loss of blood, etc. However, werewolves are more hardy than humans, since they have stronger immune systems and faster healing rate, meaning they will not die as easily or as quickly.
A lesson in Werewolf history:† It is unknown exactly how werewolves came to be in this world. Some say it’s a mutation, others say they are the fathers of the human race, some say they are descendants of gods, though surely there must be a logical explanation? But this explanation seems to have been lost to the sands of time and not even the werewolves seem to know the answer. Their past is choppy, mostly because they remained hidden from the human eyes and thus could not actually carry evidence about their existence. What is known, however, begins several months after the cruel event that took place in London.
After the “war” in London, it was discovered that several werewolves already occupied major positions in the government. And not only that, but it was safe to say there was quite the amount of werewolves in all of England, which would be one of the reasons why the werewolves seized the control of London. However, as time progressed, they actually managed to take control over most of England as well. The werewolves were found in several of the governments in other countries (The United States, Sweden, etc.), and they had secretly taken hold of positions in that specific region’s government until they had practically everything under their control. And this was done all behind the people’s back. Inspired or perused by the events that took place in London, they slowly began to emerge and show what they truly were.
When a single person was as so much as suspected of being a werewolf, the press would go raving mad, on occasion setting the people in that town, state or district in a complete panic for as much as a month before things were cleared up.
However, not all government “take overs” were as subtle. Some, in places like Spain, for example, very much so resembled the events that had taken place in London, the only difference being that the people already knew exactly what the werewolves were.
In short, how this conquest happens varies from place to place, however it is wise to keep in mind that every time a werewolf attempts to take a government by force they have always succeeded.
