Basic Personality:
Jude is a man who is perfectly suited for the profession he chose in life. He has a genius level IQ, and is level-headed and patient in the direst of circumstances. His talent for deduction (sometimes described as near-Holmesian in nature) is legendary, as are his split-second decision-making skills. More than once, he's been called a miracle worker.
Unfortunately, his bedside manner isn't always up to par with his otherwise prodigious skill. Unlike his brother, who can make anyone feel warm and welcome, Jude is the sort of man who has the uncanny ability to make everyone close to him feel as though they've annoyed him somehow. He will never say what's bothering him unless pushed, but if there really isn't anything there, he becomes flustered in trying to think of why the other person is upset at him for acting like himself; this is the only circumstance wherein Jude is known to be continually confused.

History:
Jude was born the younger of two twins to Jean-Paul Deveaux, a second-generation French immigrant, and his Londoner wife, Theresa. His older twin brother, Christopher Michael, was his only sibling, and as the two grew up, their stark contrast in personality was only offset by the fact that they were also thick as thieves -- albeit thieves who bicker like an old married couple.
To outsiders, Kit and Jude's relationship seems rocky, more like actual rivals than siblings. Jude, always a serious young man, never approved of some of his precoscious brother's antics, and Kit, never one to take anything seriously, took great joy in pestering his somber twin. When Kit joined the Navy, Jude was very disapproving. Many assumed that it was because Jude thought that the Navy was a waste of Kit's talent -- in reality, Jude simply didn't wish to be parted from the brother who otherwise appeared to bother him so much.
Though Kit shared his natural genius IQ and profound curiosity and will to learn, it was Jude who really applied himself to achieving as much as he could in life, and knew that he wanted to be a doctor by the time he hit high school. He graduated as Valedictorian of his London school, and attended university at Oxford on an academic scholarship. Never willing to do anything halfway, he joined a fraternity while there (though he admits that it was only for the best parties), and graduated two years ahead of his classmates, finishing his internship in record time.
By the time he was twenty-five, which is when most med students begin their internship, Jude was already a resident at the prestigious Lady of Grace Hospital (est. 2016) in London. He remains there to this day, and is high in the running to become chief resident.
