'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
It had been a couple days since Roxy arrived in London. She had moved all of her things in to her moderately-sized apartment in Paternoster Square, something which was apparently uncommon, seeing as the humans around her seemed quite skittish whenever she was around. Alas, Roxy was on no murderous rampage for blood. Not at the time, however. Though if one of those moods were to strike, she was obviously old enough to know how to handle it.
Since the last time Roxy had been in London, when she was 17 and very much human, things had changed so drastically. It was almost nothing like she remembered. The beauty of Hyde Park had been destroyed. The houses of Mayfair now stood as cracked, broken resemblances of what they once were. It had taken some getting used to, but Roxy had adapted rather quickly. It wasn’t as if she had lived there for forever and now everything was upside down and sideways. Things were just a little.. different.
One thing she had noticed though, that she hadn’t noticed that much in France, or Italy, or Spain, was the high contrast between werewolves, vampires and humans. Sure, there was conflict between the species all around the world, but not in the magnitude as it was in London. Vampires and werewolves practically spit at each other in the streets, the poor humans caught between it all. Roxy really had never had a problem with people of other races. Generally she treated everyone equal, unless she had a sudden urge to kill. If she decided to act upon it... well, she at least apologized to the human before ripping out their throat. For the most part though, Roxy either fed from a few different animals, taking enough from each of them to leave them a little woozy, or she did the same to humans. Every once and awhile though, Roxy would get a flashback to what she was like when she was freshly turned; one year out of her life that she couldn’t remember much of, and she’d get a sudden craving to reach the high of completely going savage upon someone.
That night, Roxy had left her apartment as soon as she was sure the sun had gone down. Waving politely to a family as she left the building, Roxy gave their little daughter a gentle smile and a pat on the top of her curly, blond head as she passed. Simply following the scent of water, Roxy found her way to the Millennium Bridge, that stood over the Thames River. With a content sigh, Roxy walked along the sidewalk, her pink satin flats contrasting softly against the gray cement. Once she reached the middle of the bridge, Roxy stopped walking and stood to face the River, resting her arms on the railing and simply watching the dark water, dimly illuminated by the moonlight.

Why is he out here in the cold? What possible reason could there be for him to be out here? Oh that's right, because his bloody car had broken down which amazed him because Amos was usually one to take excellent care of his cars. The only reason he could think for the car stalling is that either the cold had finally gotten to it or some punk had decided to tamper with the car engine while Amos was at work or had left the car for the small amount of time it would take for someone to put something into the engine to fuck it up. So now here he is walking home at night in the winter cold and severely under dressed for it; wearing only jeans and a black zip up jacket since he had had the heater on in the car and the day had been rather warm so he hadn't thought to wear anything to keep himself warm at night.
Fucking kids, always have to be messing with shit that doesn't belong to them because they're bored and need some cheap and quick entertainment. Huffing angrily to himself, scowling at the mist that comes out of his nose as he breaths out as if he could scare the cold away with angry looks. Also there is the fact that he'd left his pain killers in the car. Those little pills that sometimes kept the pain in his back and knees at bay. Now since he had been walking his knees and back are starting to act up and of course he doesn't have the pills to do anything about it.
Without really thinking where he is going Amos finds himself walking along Millennium Bridge, his feet scuffing the ground lazily as his mood slowly gets more and more annoyed and irritated. He finally stops for a moment to take out his phone, but his fingers are cold and too numb to get a proper grip on the phone which easily slips out of his hands, bounces on the concrete ground and then over the edge of the bridge and tumbles into the dark water of the river Thames. Amos just stands there, staring at his now empty hands. Then his brain suddenly clicks to what just happened and he lets out a small growl of annoyance. Someone else might have reacted by swearing profusely, but not Amos. No he kept his cool and just accepted that his phone is now lost to cold waters below.

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
Roxy had felt the presence of Amos before anything else. He had an annoyed, buzzing and pulsating aura around him that Roxy picked up far before he actually got to the bridge. Not wanting to frighten the poor human, Roxy decided to keep gazing out at the water, elegant in all of it’s frigid beauty. A soft wind blew her long, blue-black curls away from her shoulders, her black and white striped sweater tailing behind her, sort of like a cap. The corner of her lips, painted bright red, was tugged up in a faint sort of smile as the wind brought the scent of the human closer to her.
The woman could practically taste the frustration radiating from this man. It was cold out for a human, and he sure as hell wasn’t properly dressed. Of course, she shouldn’t be talking. Then again, she didn’t need to worry. Roxy was always a little colder than her surrounding temperatures anyway. A playful, swirling mist escaped from her mouth as she let out a soft sigh. Breathing was more of a habit to her than anything. Her attention was immediately brought down to the water, where Roxy had heard a splash, having heard the cell phone just before it fell into the icy depths. Finally laying her sparkling eyes on the human, Roxy softened a little bit. God, he looked miserable.
”Uhm,” she said softly, but loud enough so he could hear. Right off the bat, Roxy’s voice was gentle, and warm enough to heat a house. She couldn’t exactly blame the human if he was afraid of her, though. All the humans in London had the right to be. She pushed her slender frame away from the railing and slowly walked towards the human, trying to show him that she wouldn’t rip his throat out. Although, she was sure a lot of vampires around here tried that on nervous humans. ”Did you... lose your phone?” Roxy asked curiously, standing now a few feet in front of him, not appearing menacing at all. There was enough moonlight so that the human could surely see her, what she looked like, and where she was. ”Sorry if I scared you,” Roxy added gently, smiling just a bit. ”I can imagine ‘ow the humans in London must feel.” Her voice had a light, graceful French accent to it, somewhat welcoming.

”Did you... lose your phone?”
Amos has to physically stop himself from jumping right out of his skin at the sound of the woman's voice, despite his restraint his surprise comes out as a soft sound almost like a squeak. He quickly regains his composure, looks at the bridge railing then at Roxy, blinking a few times before answering her question. "Uh yeah I did. It's so damn cold out here my fingers are numb and I couldn't hold the phone. Damn thing popped right out of my hands and fell over the side of the bridge. It's that bad really, I have all the contacts written down elsewhere so it's not like I've lost anything. Still... It's annoying".
”Sorry if I scared you" ”I can imagine ‘ow the humans in London must feel"
Amos smiles a little, but it isn't a real smile at all. "Yeah it's not exactly easy these days getting around London. Fuck even during the day when you think you're safe from the vampire 'n' shit there's muggers, mobsters and people driving like retards who could hit you when you're crossing the road". He didn't usually swear this much when in the company of someone he didn't know but right now he couldn't care less about been polite or formal, he just wants to get out of the cold and down a bottle of pain killers and go to bed with the heater on full blast.
"Let me guess... Vampire? You've got to be. No sane human would be out here at this time of night just to take a look at the river. Plus vampires seem to have a thing for just hanging around places". Amos puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket, no that it does any good but it does provide some kind of warmth to his hands. "You didn't really scare me" Liar. You would have screamed like a girl if you could have. "My mind was just somewhere else, the cold seems to slow down my brain".

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
She bit her lip gently as the human let out a small noise of surprise. Aww... she felt bad. Roxy really hadn’t intended to scare him. Even though all humans in London had a right to be skittish, she tried to be as approachable as possible. She nodded as she listened to him. ”Ah,” she said, glancing out at the water and then back at him. ”I see. It is really cold. Not that I would know, but... I figure as much.” Roxy smiled gorgeously at the human, her fangs plainly visible in her mouth, even in the moon light. Roxy, for some reason, had a knack for dental hygiene. She couldn’t stand having dirty teeth, it drove her crazy. She nodded again. ”At least you didn’t lose all of your information, zen,” she added, closing her lips in a smile to make herself perhaps less menacing.
The elder vampire leaned her bony hip up against the railing of the bridge, running her fingers briefly through her hair before turning back to look at the human as he talked. She watched his facial expressions, which seemed somewhat forced. His blue eyes, however, seemed to strike Roxy’s fancy a little bit. They were very pretty, just like hers. ”London is far different from what I remember it to be,” Roxy said, a touch of sadness in her voice. London had been so beautiful when she had last seen it, and now it was so...desolate.
A smile forced Roxy’s lips to split again as he guessed she was a vampire. Of course, how obvious could it be. ”Indeed,” She said, smiling a little as she pushed herself off of the railing. Bringing her right foot behind her, crossing behind her other, she curtsied very slightly, bowing her head. ”I’m Roxy Hart. Iz very nice to meet you,” She said, giving him another charming smile. She hoped the human would at least realize she wasn’t a danger to him by now; most vampires didn’t bother with formalities. Roxy felt bad as he shoved his hands into his pockets. He had to be freezing. His excuse made her giggle very softly, quite a girlish sound. ”I ‘ope not.. but you’re a good liar,” Roxy said, winking playfully at him.

”I see. It is really cold. Not that I would know, but... I figure as much"
"It really is really cold. Guess that's one good thing about been a vampire is that you can't really feel the cold. Though personally that doesn't excuse all the other things that come with been one... no offense meant, I just like been able to go out into the sunlight". "I didn't think it would be this cold tonight and I'd been driving so you know you don't dress to be warm outside if you're driving. Then the damn thing broke down so I was forced to walk... in this cold in clothing that really isn't suited for this cold weather". There he goes rambling again, her nerves starting to kick in. Don't say anything to piss her off, just stay calm and for gods sake breath you moron.
Amos looks around himself slowly. "This is the only London most people in the city know, well most humans anyway. The only people who remember what this place used to be like are the vampires and werewolves. All we humans have got are photos and video footage. I think that it might be a good thing we don't know what it was like before everything went to crap. I mean how can be wish something was how it used to be if we can't remember how it use to be in the first place".
”I’m Roxy Hart. Iz very nice to meet you"
Screw it, tell her your real name
Amos smiles at her little curtsy and returns it with a little bow of his head. "Nice to meet you Roxy Hart". He puts a hand on his chest. "Amos Artan".”I ‘ope not.. but you’re a good liar". Amos shifts a little at her calling him out on his lying. "Sorry".

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
Indeed, Amos did have a point. She couldn’t feel cold, yes. But it also took forever for Roxy to feel warm. She’d have to stand in the shower under scalding hot water for at least an hour, or lay in front of a fire place all day. But then when she did... Oh, it felt fantastic. She sighed quietly as he mentioned sunshine, bowing her head ever so slightly. It was hard for her to remember what it felt like to have rays of the golden sun beating down on your skin, but she could faintly remember it. That memory was what held Roxy over at times, seemingly warming her up, even though her skin was so cold. ”I mees the sun, sometimes,” she admitted quietly, listening to his story. Oh dear. It sounded as though he hadn’t had a good day at all. She wrinkled her nose, able to feel his heart beating faster and he got nervous. Roxy sighed quietly. ”Zat does not sound good at all... per’aps you should always be prepapred?” Roxy suggested, tilting her head a little.
As Amos mentioned the old London, Roxy frowned slightly. It really did break her heart to see what the beautiful city had turned in to. But, there was nothing that could be done about it now. Nodding understandably, Roxy gently nibbled on her lower lip, careful not to cut herself. She looked up to see him bow and introduce herself. She giggled softly. ”Pleasure,” she said, still smiling. She held up a hand gracefully as he apologized and shook her head. She couldn’t see why any human in London would tell the truth. ”Iz okay... but you should get ‘ome. It’s cold, and late.” Already, Roxy had a spot in her heart for Amos. He was sweet, even if he didn’t want to seem it.

”I mees the sun, sometimes"
"There's nothing really you can use to recreate the feeling of the suns warmth, hell even a UV light will do to you guys the same stuff as going out into the sun itself". He pauses for a moment. "Sorry, don't meant o point out all your short-comings or anything, sometimes the little filter between my brain and my mouth conks out and I start rambling and saying things I shouldn't".”Zat does not sound good at all... per’aps you should always be prepared?”. "Yeah I really should have been, should have taken notice to take the pills with me out of the car when I left it. But I was in a foul mood so I really wasn't paying attention".
Amos could see her frown a little. Sometimes he did wish he could have been around to have seen London when it was in it's hay days, back when the river was clean and it was relatively safe to walk around the streets at night and the werewolves and vampires kept to themselves instead of been so open about who and what they are. Now Amos had nothing against werewolves, he worked with them, but vampires oh he felt so uncomfortable around them. Even though Roxanne was been nice enough there is a part of him that screams that it's all a trick, that she's just been nice to get him buttered up and then BAM, she'll pounce him and suck his blood.
”Iz okay... but you should get ‘ome. It’s cold, and late"
"I guess I should be continuing on my way home, but at the same time I wouldn't mind braving the cold to have a nice conversation with you, or you could walk with me as I go on my way back to the house".

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
She laughed quietly at his comment about the sun. Roxy knew very well how it felt, and sometimes it seemed to real that she believed she was human again. But then something would bring her back to reality, back to her cold skin and lifeless heart. Not that minded being a vampire. Roxy actually rather enjoyed it. ”Iz okay,” Roxy said, smiling, her pearly fangs catching a bit of the moonlight.
Roxy could tell how uncomfortable Amos was around vampires. Most people in London seemed to be. Well, at least werewolves didn’t suck people’s blood... But that doesn’t make them innocent. She knew that many of the crimes in London were associated with werewolves. Hell, at least they could go out during the day. Her fingertips lightly trailed across the railing of the bridge, and she became slightly distracted by a splash in the water below, as a bird flew down to catch a fish. As Amos brought up the idea of her walking him home, she thought for a minute. Roxy didn’t have anywhere else to be, and knowing the area they were in, it would probably be better for her to go with him. Roxy was an elder vampire, 183 years old. Even without saying, other vampires know how old she was, and how in control of her strength and everything else she was.
”Zat sounds like a good idea... Iz probably best if I walk you ‘ome,” she said, slowly walking closer to him, not wanting him to think that she was going to attack him or anything. Roxy walked up next to him and held her arm out, bent slightly, offering him to link arms with her. She gave him a cute smile, and then when she heard the beating of his heart, the blood rushing through his veins, she blushed slightly. ”Oh,” she said, giggling softly as she let her arm fall gracefully down to her side. ”Nevermind. Zat will just make you colder.”

”Zat sounds like a good idea... Iz probably best if I walk you ‘ome"
"My own vampire guardian? Makes me feel like I'm back to been a little kid and you're my older sister walking me home from school or something". Of course Amos saw her in no way as an older sister, if anything Amos could feel himself starting to grow a bit of affection towards Roxy, perhaps even feelings that he would like to be near her more often. He mentally shakes his head. Don't start getting those kinds of ideas in your head boy. Last thing you need is to start getting feelings towards a vampire. But what if he can't get rid of that feeling? What if he can't get Roxy out of his head and keeps thinking about her and keeps carrying that feeling that he'd want to spend more time with her even if it's outside in the cold. After that night in Hyde Park Amos had told himself that he'd never get close to any vampire, never. But now... ah he'd have to think about it later, not now while he's in Roxy's company.
”Nevermind. Zat will just make you colder"
His thoughts are clouded for a moment as Roxy comes up beside him and offers out her hand for him to link his own with. He had been about to do just that when Roxy let her arm drop down. "Maybe, I don't think it would make much of a difference at the moment since I'm already as cold as ice as it is". Amos bends his arm like Roxy had, offering it to her to put her arm around. "My place isn't far from here".

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
Amos’s comment brought a bright smile to Roxy’s face, a soft, musical laugh escaping out of her throat gently, dissolving into the crisp, cold air. She ran her fingers through her long, blue-black curls and let her hand fall back down to her side. ”Trust me,” she said, looking into his eyes, her emerald eyes almost piercingly bright. ”Iz better zan walking ‘ome alone.”
The wind blew, and although Roxy couldn’t feel it, she imagined just how old it would be. Her chest rose and fell slowly, breathing out of habit more than anything, though the air that escaped from her body formed no mist as it assimilated into the frigid air, being a few degrees colder than the outside temperature itself. "Maybe, I don't think it would make much of a difference at the moment since I'm already as cold as ice as it is,” Amos said, bringing a sweet smile to Roxy’s face, tugging at the corners of her red lips. ”You may he cold as ice, but I am much colder zan zat.” She giggled quietly, pulling her sweater sleeve down to make sure it was covering her arm, not that it would do much help anyway, and carefully hooked her arm with Amos’s. Even in the smallest of her movements, Roxy had potential to break every bone in his arm, though she had insane control of herself. To the human touch, Roxy was cold and hard, like she had been carved out of a rock. But to other vampires, they could feel the softness of her pale skin,

Her eyes are so bright, so green. He could look at them for hours, just stare into her eyes watching them sparkle and shine in the light. Shit, he was starting to fall for this girl, this vampire. Despite the hate he has for vampires this girl is starting starting to change his mind, or at least change his mind towards herself. Perhaps he could even change his mind towards all vampires, but that seems less likely than just his mind changing about Roxy.”Iz better zan walking ‘ome alone" "Yeah I can agree on that. I was not looking forward to walking the rest of the way home alone. I was thinking of calling a taxi but then I dropped my phone so calling anyone was totally out of the question. But then you happened to be here so it's not that bad of a night after all. Least I know you're not going to jump me and bite down on me".
”You may he cold as ice, but I am much colder zan zat"
Amos thinks for a moment. "Cold as death". He can feel the cold of her skin even through the sleeve of her sweater. Sure it makes him shiver a little more than he already is but he's not going to complain about it. He moves his hand slightly to touch hers. Could have been by accident but it was on purpose just to feel her skin. It felt almost hard and so much colder than the air around them. The feeling it makes him a little bit sad. To be close to a vampire would mean that he would always be cold around her, there wouldn't be that pleasant heat that comes from been close to a human or even a werewolf. Clearing his mind Amos looks forwards. "The place is about five minutes from here".

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
The human really was growing on Roxy. Of course, male attention was something that Roxy always had in her life. She looooved to flirt and seduce people. It was definitely one of her hobbies. Every so often though, came along a man who struck Roxy's interest in a different way; someone she didn't want to just play around with, but get to know. Amos was like that. He intrigued her. "Yeah I can agree on that. I was not looking forward to walking the rest of the way home alone. I was thinking of calling a taxi but then I dropped my phone so calling anyone was totally out of the question. But then you happened to be here so it's not that bad of a night after all. Least I know you're not going to jump me and bite down on me". She nodded, knowing all too well just how good human fear tasted to a vampire. "Yes... fear to vampires, is like drugs to 'umans."
"Cold as death". His words brought a certain smile to Roxy's face, one of those slow, thoughtful, deep-meaning smiles. It wasn't the first time she had heard it, far from it actually. Roxy thought being a vampire had a certain eloquence to it, a fair sense of darkness and mystique. It was something she admired daily, about her and other vampires around her. Roxy felt Amos shiver and she smiled a bit. She wondered just how cold she felt to others. She felt his hand touch hers and she could sense how deliberate it was. Walking with a sense of poise and fluidity, Roxy nodded as he told her how far away they were. "Do you like where you live?" She asked, looking over at him in the moonlight.

"Yes... fear to vampires, is like drugs to 'umans"
"I guess that makes sense. You hardly see a vampire feeding off of someone who's calm. Almost every time the person is screaming and trying to get out of the vampires grasp". Amos frowns a little. "Guess that's why those vampires did what they did to us. Even when they'd killed the others they still had me to get their 'high' from. You know I often wondered why they didn't feed off of me like they did the others, just made me watch and beat the shit out of me". He doesn't mean to keep bringing up that night, hell this is the most he's ever talked about it at one time to anyone. He doesn't mean to make himself sound like he's grasping for sympathy from Roxy. That night was just the only time he'd ever seen vampires feeding first hand and the only example he could think about vampires liking the fear they cause to humans.
"Do you like where you live?"
"Oh it's not so bad. Just a small two story apartment I got a few years back. I live by myself so it's not like I need a lot of space. In fact it's quite and empty place, I only have the bare essentials; sofa and tv in the lounge, table, stove and fridge in the kitchen and just a bed and wardrobe in the bedroom. I do have a rather large garage though. I have about three cars. I brought them as wrecks and I've slowly been doing them up. I have to keep them locked up pretty good or else the street kids get to them". He didn't care if Roxy could tell that his touch of her hand had been deliberate.

"Mmmm..." Roxy hummed in reply to Amos's words, more of an unintentional reaction than anything. The rush of pinning a human up to a wall while they were squirming and screaming, and then silencing them by ripping their throat out... Mmm, it was simply delicious. Of course, this wasn't something she would bring up to Amos. He mentioned a night in Hyde Park, and she figured that he'd had some type of traumatic experience with vampires. They were, of course, frightening creatures in and of themselves. She simply nodded, knowing just how well vampires seemed to scar humans. Hell, she had done a great deal of emotional damage to humans in her time. Again, she wouldn't dare bring this up. "Some vampires.. are more addicted to ze drug of fear zan ozzers." Roxy nibbled on her lip for a moment. "Iz some'sing zat cannot be easily explained."
Just imagining the taste of fear radiating from a human as they saw their lives flash before their eyes made Roxy shiver slightly, a quiet purr escaping her throat. She listened to him describe his apartment and she nodded. Mmm, I see. Zat sounds like my apartment," she said quietly, her soft voice sounding a little dreamy, just loud enough for the human to hear. They reached the other side of the bridge and walked along a broken cobblestone path, Roxy following him to his house.
