Seagulls up above, sand in between bare tan toes, crashing waves in her ears, and the big blue sky in her field of vision.
"And We'll dig a deep hole... to bury the castle."
Her dark chocolate eyes fell on the various shards of washed up shells and what looked like rocks. She sung to herself, aided by white earphones connected to a slender, bright red mp3 player hidden away inside her baggy, stripped hoodie.
"Bury the castle"
To bury the castle. That sounded familiar. Everything in Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick" sounded familiar. Well, almost everything. The next few lines were the only lines that could relate to her the best. "So one day he found her cryin', coiled up on the dirty ground. Her prince finally came to save her, and the rest you can figure out."
'He', being the group of policeman lead by a man named Matthew Johnson, triggered one of the memories from her childhood. 'Her' being the small 8 year old curled up in a musty basement for exactly four years. But the Prince... She was unsure of who was the Prince in her tragic story. Her dad and his fellow officers could fit the role of the Prince, since it took them so long to rescue her.
Regardless of certain lines from a certain songs didn't fit the situation she was trying to compare them to, the song matched a personal experience.
As Cadence strolled further down the beach, she noticed how much it reminded her of the beach in the United States. Ocean City Beach. Good times. Almost every year, almost every summer, up until Elizabeth was 4, was spent at Ocean City. She wished she could go back to the U.S., just to go back to Ocean City. All she wanted to do was run into the waves , or stand at the shore and let the waves tickle her feet, digging her toes into wet sand. She did it, and so did Trey.
She stopped, realizing that "Brick by Boring Brick" became "Turn it off"
"Oh Well", She shrugged, and continued walking barefoot in white sand.
