Howdy. You peoples (on here, RoO) probably know me as Teris, Anna-Leigh, Sage, or possibly even Jenna. I know me on a variety of different levels, unfortunately, and I figured I'd let you get to know me as well. xD
-I have terrible printing and hand-writing if I don't take the time to actually write neatly (though when I think of it, this isn't really an important point)
-I'm extremely hypocritical (aren't we all). I love to have an interesting post to respond to, but when I'm away for a period of time, when I come back, I expect results (sadly I'm usually disappointed, so I try not to be kept from my postings at least once a day).
-I'm an animal lover, and ever since I was of the age of about 5, I've wanted to become a vet so I could "go into the desert and take all the poison out of the snakes." Well, that dream's evolved (after I got over the trauma that snakes just happen to grow those venom sacks back xP) and now I wish to work with animals in some way, rescuing them.
-I love visuals, so you’ll probably find –much like Anna-Leigh’s bio- many links leading to cute/cool/interesting pictures =)
-I am a Sagittarius, in case that means anything to you
-Born in 1993 on November 26
-Live in Ontario, Canada, and for a time lived in Toronto before moving back to the small town in which I was raised as a baby.
Okay, so here’s a list of all my favourite things.
-wolves
-books and reading
-chocolate
-pizza
-food (before this list becomes too long xP)
-hiking
-writing
-the colour red
-neutral black
-Canada
-my pets Sunset, Tally, Cubby, and Lucky
A little once-over:
I have medium-length wavy natural red hair. Dark brown eyes. Freckles. One nose. Two eyes. One tongue. Two ears. One middle finger pointing at you right now. (Just kidding! xD)
-Past pets:
Oscar: Oscar was, well... an oscar (a type of fish). We had him for I suppose three years or so, until we moved from Toronto to a small town in which my grandparents resided. Unfortunately the old little guy just didn't survive the move when I was about 6/7, and he died. My sister and I were traumatized and cried for at least an hour when we found out.
Duckoda and Diamond: These are ducks we had around the time the third of my parent's offspring (my second youngest sister), Takoda, was born. (Which is where I got Duckoda's name from... and the fact he was a duck). We had them for I suppose a year, or about near, before the neighbours complained and we gave them to a local bird sanctuary and park about 45 minutes away. A cute memory of them, was when they thought my dog was their mom and always followed her around.
Sara: Dog mentioned above. She was a rather plump shiatsu we bought (she cost more then my dad's of-the-time crappy car, Lil) while living in Toronto. She was very lazy, and whenever we went for walks and brought the baby stroller, she'd always jump into the lower compartment and hitch a ride.
Butterscotch, Spots, Mittens, Precious, Chestnut, and all the others: These were all rabbits, Mittens being mine, Spots' Tanisha's, Butterscotch the family's, and Chestnut my mom's. I remember at one time we once had about thirteen rabbits hopping around the back-yard pen. Why did we have so many rabbits? Well because -pardon my language- but my sister's rabbit, Spots was a whore and Butterscotch couldn't keep it in his pants PX. My lovely Mittens, a black pygmy rabbit, had died a few months after giving birth to her third litter of three rabbits that actually lived. She had a lung disease, and eventually, one day, just gave out. I still miss her today.
Boggy and Lipstick: Kay, we had way more fish then just these guys, but they're the ones I liked the best. Boggy was the most determined gold fish, and every year when we Bran them in for the winter from the pond, he was there, fatter then the rest. Lipstick was a unique little gold fish who had black slightly around her eyes and on her lips, hence her name: Lipstick.
Sam: Our most recent death of a pet, having just happened a few weeks ago. She was a spunky one-year-old husky, who used to always greet you when you came home with this funny growl-bark thing she used to do. She was a complete coward, but I loved her. She got hit by a car when her and Tally thought it was a genius idea to run off the property.
Jazz and Freedom: Hamsters. Freedom was my sister Tinisha's, and, as her name implied, she kept getting free. She had one litter of babies that we gave away to the pet store, I believe there were seven, one of which we named Panda since he looked like a little panda bear. Eventually, on one of her escape missions, she broke a crawling tube and was lost for about two weeks somewhere in the walls. Eventually our cat, Lucky got at her. Jazz was my big teddy bear hamster. He, like our old dog Sara, was incredibly lazy, which is why even though the tube had broken open, he didn't leave since he'd been asleep... or eating, we're not quite sure which. He died a few years ago from old age.
Cheese: Tinisha's rat that Sam killed
Takyra's rats: She's had three... all of them die from choking over their food. I suspect there's some sort of demon curse over my sister, since it's really only her rats that died. Plus there was an incident where she apparently tried to kill Takoda's rat, Jazz (mentioned below), and later said that her imaginary friend, Stephanie told her to do so. Needless to say, I suggested an exorcism xP.
Yes, a long list of deceased. We have our own little pet-cemetery in the back yard (one that we joke about if we were to ever move-out, and someone digs up). Despite all of those deaths, though, we still have a fair amount of pets (and I think I missed some of the old ones).
-Current-day pets:
Sunset: My one-year-old rat that I got on mother's day last year. She's a white little bundle of energy that enjoys giving kisses and running around my room on her own free will. I remember the day we got her, when she was a baby, she fell asleep in my arms and I was instantly in love.
Jazz: My sister Takoda's rat that she named after my hamster. He's a fat and lazy rat that eats pretty much anything you give him.
Mika and Zika: Degus that I really don't like since they bite.
Tally: Our remaining dog. She's a black lab/shepherd.
Lucky and Cubby: Our cats. We've had Cubby for about 13/14 years, and Lucky for about... 6/7. They're both hilarious and have their own cute personalities.
I think that's about all the pets worth mentioning...
As I've mentioned earlier, I love to read. And I'd just finished (as of May 25th, 2010) today my second reading of a book I particularly enjoy; when I thought "Hey, why not add some of the books I've read in my life time onto here?" And so, that's why I'm updating =P.
The book I just finished reading is called The Loop and is written by Nicholas Evans who -for all you horse lovers out there- wrote The Horse Whisperer. I really suggest wolf lovers to read this book, even though there are parts I know you'd very much dislike/hate. I know there were many parts throughout the book where I had to keep myself from crying. Since I'm on the verge of telling you what happens, though, I'll move on xP.
Other books I've read include The Daughters of the Moon series written by Lynn Ewing. This (now thinking about it) kind of reminds me of Sailor Moon for a few reasons. 1) Well... 'Moon' if that connection wasn't obvious... never mind xP; 2) they go around doing the whole "fighting bad guys" thing and; 3)the group's basically composed of girls. This series I read when I was back in grade 7/8, and I absolutely loved them. In the few weeks I was getting through them, my parents had to keep nagging me to do laundry xP.
Another series I've mostly read were the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books by Kathryn Lasky. It's a series of fantasy books about owls, and it's fairly interesting. Or at least it was to my grade 5-7 mind. Once and a while I'll pick up one of my books and skim through, but the reading level is slightly lower then I'm used to, so I generally stick with what I remember from when I read them.
I'm also acquainted with the Midnighters Trilogy[/u] by Scott Westerfeld. These books I found had interesting plots and I loved the author's creativity when creating the characters and his own world.
A book I enjoy returning to quite frequently is In Legend Born by Laura Resnick. I'm anxious to read the book that comes after it, White Dragon, but because of how little known the book is, it's proving to be quite difficult to get my hands on. I'm hoping I'll manage to catch it sometime on one of my trips to Toronto (since it has, like, everything xP).
Other books laying around my room include: Polgara the Sorceress by David and Leigh Eddings, The Priestess of Avalon by Marion Bradley and Diana L Paxson, Fear (I don't have the book with me, and I can't find it online, so you'll have to wait to get author name, etc), Rogue (a book about werecats) by Rachel Vincent, Eragon[/u] by Christopher Paolini, Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke, and many others.
In addition, I on occasion take trips to the library to take out some books, and have read a few really good books that I can't really place my finger on the names.
((still a work in process))
