† personality †
basic personality: despite appearances and titles, cross is actually a pretty decent guy on a personal level. he was a devoted husband and is a loving father, brother, son, and friend. loyal and caring, he jumps through hoops to ensure his loved ones’ happiness. despite his intense loyalty, he isn’t the type to drown in self-pity when he is betrayed. in fact, he can be quite optimistic. he could even be considered friendly and talkative if with the right people, though he is never exactly obnoxious.
however, most people are completely unaware of cross’s better half. he has a nasty habit of presenting himself as manipulative and cunning, which he certainly can be. his enigmatic behavior and quiet intelligence can make him appear rather daunting to those unfamiliar with him. that’s fine with him, considering he has to keep up appearances as a cross, although he is the second son and therefore not heir to the “family business.” which is a real shame, because he is arguably more apt to be an intelligent, resourceful leader. that may be just as well, considering he has no desire to take up his father’s work.
cross’s children, caroline and sirius, are undoubtedly his favorite things in the world. a close second is science, which fascinates him. he has been known to lock himself away in labs for hours on end, researching, experimenting, and engineering. although he has failed much more than succeeded, he finds it hard to consider anything in his work as a “failure,” or anything less than a rewarding learning experience, for that matter. however, his intense love for the sciences can often get the best of him, and he can sometimes go a little too far with his experiments.
as he was human for most of his life, and was turned into a werewolf on account of his own accident, he has no predetermined bias against humans, werewolves, or vampires. as long as he isn’t judged immediately, he won’t do any immediate judging.

† appearance †
skin color: average caucasian
hair color: black
eye color: burnt orange
build: tall and lanky. 6'2" and 159 lbs.
piercings/scars/tattoos: two piercings on each ear
choice of clothing: honestly, cross's usual attire is typical "evil villain" type clothing. he likes pointy shoulder pads and shoes, vests, trench coats, dark colors, and the occasional top hat. but his favorite thing about clothing is by far turning up his collar. sometimes he will wear two shirts so he can turn up two collars and feel twice as awesome.
still, when he wants to feel more like a normal man [fat chance], cross isn't above a baseball cap and a t-shirt.
wolf appearance: as a wolf, cross is still tall and lanky, standing about 4 feet at the shoulder. his fur is various shades of black and gray and often appears scruffy. his eyes are the same orangey color.
other: not right now, i don’t think.
† history †
history: jeremy andrew cross vi, hailing from a long line of evil geniuses and mad scientists, and agatha powers-cross never really had the best of luck. as was standard in the cross family, their marriage was an arranged one. they didn't quite run into big problems until the following year, when their first born was a daughter. this was the first time in family history where the first born was not a son, and the older generations began to look down on the couple. again they tried, but their efforts over a span of two more years only produced two more daughters. finally, after being married four years, they produced a son, jeremy andrew cross vii. he was immediately named heir to the "family business." two more years later came another son, but andy and agatha were never very creative and simply called their second son seven-and-a-halfth.
generations made the cross family billionaires, so the youngest man always had the money and the room in the cross castle to pursue his interests in science, even from an early age.
although he was not heir, cross's marriage was also fixed, though he and natasha learned to love one another. their happy marriage produced two beautiful children by the time they were twenty seven.
shortly after his son was born, cross took up a most peculiar series of experiments deep in his labs. his subject was mainly a lone werewolf he had taken in, and in exchange for the lycanthrope's participation, he fed, housed, and paid his subject.
unfortunately, somehow amongst all the experiments, cross himself gained the werewolf gene. frankly he was more excited than worried, that is until his wife decided that she didn't want to be married to a flesh-eating fleabag and left him and their children.
though his wife's leaving crushed cross, he did not linger over her for too long, lest he become one of those people. instead he continued to be a good father and went forward with his research. the first werewolf he had tested went free with much more money than it had come to him with, and cross eventually took his work and his children to london. although his lab area in the city proved to be much smaller than at the castle, he figured it was a more suitable environment to raise children. plus, who could forget just what london had a plethora of?

† rp example †
as usual, xander rather zoned out while staring at nothing in particular and was only partially aware of the nurse’s departure. the fact was thrust in his face when poe threw her arms around him and began to sob into his chest. her grip was so constricting that not even the lycanthrope found himself able to break free--but perhaps that was more due to emotion. he was, however, suddenly very worried; he hadn’t noticed the nurse do anything to actually, purposely harm her, and he hadn’t gone and attacked her. he wasn’t trying to right now.
what i did. what got me here. i don’t deserve you.
incredulous, xander repeated her words over in his mind again and again. what she did to not deserve him? how blind was poe? she was a medium risk, saying this to a high risk. was she unaware of what those statuses were for? sure, she had been placed temporarily into high risk, maybe even more than once--but something she did not have in common with xander was that she always ended up getting out. he had never been moved down in risk in four years. and did she know why that was? it was a reason more serious than anything she could be concealing under her belt. with an immense desire, xander wanted to immediately tell her that she was wrong for thinking that. he wanted to tell her that whatever she had done was nothing. he wanted to tell her that the man she was clinging to with such trust had murdered three people.
gently, the man pushed poe away. he squeezed her hands softly before letting go and holding up one finger in the universal “brb” signal, then disappeared back into the rec room. when he and stan reemerged, xander had the lost notepad in tow. without wasting any time, he wrote to poe a retort.
whatever you did, he wrote earnestly, showing her as the pen created words, doesn’t matter. i don’t care what you did. if either of us doesn’t deserve the other, it’s me.
the brunet willed his hand to write the words, because i’ve killed people when you haven’t. but how could he? not even the merciful poe could tolerate him if she knew the mindless slaughter he had executed. she would certainly leave him then. xander could never tell her. he didn’t want to lose her again, permanently.
