Dating an assassin is always a dangerous thing to do, anything can go wrong when your partner pisses off the wrong person and now they're the ones been targetted and even you can be the target, the enemy wanting to harm you to get to the assassin. All are possibly outcomes but when you love someone enough you're willing to put up with those risks, willing to lay down your own life for that of your partner and that is what Kai is willing to do for Cross. Despite been a wolf Kai is not much of a fighter, been more of the type to stay behind the safety of his lab desk rather than go out into the actual physical field. He has done so before and almost got stabbed, he has never gone out with Cross on one of his jobs again.
In his wolf form Kai lays in the lengthening shadows, shivering a little as the warmth of the sun starts to fade away. His ears flick in annoyance, he'd been lazing here for most of the day and doesn't want to get up to find a new patch of sunlight only to have to move again in ten minutes or so. Huffing softly Kai stands, leaning forwards to stretch out his spine and a wide yawn showing off his sharp teeth. Lazily he shakes himself to get rid of any leaves and grass that ahve attached themselves to his fur. He will probably go find Cross, see if he would like to go for a hunt to find dinner. A run through the spring night air would be nice.
The scent of vampires is already heavy in the air, which isn't surprising given his location of Hyde Park. Vampires often use it as a hunting ground to find the odd stray human or two that have foolishly wondered into the park perhaps trying to find a shortcut or is just drunk and wondering through. Staying in the shadows low to the ground Kai watches the sun slowly setting and the stars appearing. Perhaps he should leave now before any vampires actually turn out, or any human hunters.

Ah night. The assassin's playtime. Or at least that was the way Cross McKnight saw things. He could kill any time of the day mind you only night made it easier to remain undetected until the job was done. And the way Cross did things he needed the help. A few times already he had been careless. One such time he'd nearly gotten his best friend and lover injured if not killed, something he had yet to forgive himself for. Not that he would tell Kai that. The lab rat had enough to worry about mixing his poisons and such without worrying what his boyfriend was getting into.
Luckily, this was his last assignment for a while. And it was relitatively easy, given that Cross' parkour way of doing things enabled him to get to places well out of site of his targets. One well placed knife in the back of the neck took the target down quickly and quietly. Cross remained undetected...or so he thought. He had no idea that he was being watched as he retrived his weapon from the corpse before disposing of the body in the manner specified in his orders.
Job done, the young man headed for a route he knew well - the route to the park he and Kai usually met at. Taking a quick detour into a cave in the woods that surrounded the park, he undressed from his usual attire, trading that instead for the reddish brown fur of his wolf form. Leaving his stuff behind, he took off toward Kai's scent. The closer he got however the more scents he smelled. And a few of those scents he didn't like at all. "Vampires and humans getting together? What's this world coming to?" he thought as he approached the source of the scents.
He spotted Kai slinking around watching them and, in true Cross fashion - started walking over toward him. The humans would think he was just a dog. A big dog but a dog none the less. And vampires wouldn't want to give themselves away to potential prey so they'd shut up about it too.

Kai picks up the scent of Cross, as much as he wanted to see Cross the two been around a group of vampires and humans, the two wouldn't be able to fend off the number of enemies that surround them. He gives Cross a few whines of warning but the two groups have already seen Cross walking across the park obviously with intend on meeting another of his kind. There is a slight movement that Kai is able to see, a vampire raising a weapon and firing his weapon. He barks loudly to give Cross a warning and runs forwards, but not before the vampire is ablet o get off a few shots aimed at Cross. One bullet manages to hit Cross in the shoulder, the other two projectiles hit Kai directly in the ribs. He yelps sharply and stumbles a little, the smell of his blood filling the air.
Snarling, his anger masking the pain Kai turns and charges at the attackers, snapping and snarling. He leaps at one of the humans, clamping his teeth down on the humans hand that had been holding the gun and shakes his head, twisting and thrashing it until there is nothing left but shredded skin and a screaming man on the ground. Quickly he turns once more and attacks another human, this time going for the throat. The man gurgles as he drowns on his own blood. Leaping backwards Kai stands in front of the group, his fur matted with blood and dirt, his legs shaking, his breathing laboured.
---
From somewhere off to the right comes a series of gunshots, all of them hitting two vampires and three humans directly in the head. The remaining enemies look around, obviously scared. Three more shots ring out, warning shots and from the shadows of the trees a figure emerges, duel pistols aimed at the humans and vampires. "I'd say you're a bit fucked here guys, why dont' you back away before you join your mates on the ground". Tahmores walks up to Cross. "Got yourself mixed up in a bit of trouble huh".
Kai looks back at Tahmores and Cross, slumping a little as more blood runs from his body.

Cross had been over halfway across the park grass when he heard the shot and saw Kai running at him in wolf form. That was mere seconds before a stabbing pain spread throughout his shoulder, causing him to yelp in pain. He looked to the crowd of vampires and humans and saw Kai rushing at them now, snarling his head off. But that wasn't what got his attention. It was the blood streaming from two holes in the other wolf's hide.
Cross started to go to help his lover but his shoulder cried out in agony at every movement he made. He was helpless to help and he hated it. Soon enough, there were bloody people on the ground and more shots ringing out not from the previous offender but from some new comer to the fray. Cross looked at Kai. The other wolf was shakily standing on his feet and bleeding heavily, panting laboredly the entire time. Cross whined at him, as if asking if he was ok when he already knew the answer.
The new comer looked at him and made some statement about them getting into a mess. Cross just growled a low growl and limped over to his injured comrad. He was relieved that at least the vampire human group was running for their lives. Whining, he nosed at his lover's injured body.

"Don't you growl at me mister, I just saved your ass". He looks at Kai, knowing full well that the other wolf isn't going to make it, his wounds are too severe and the way he has exhausted himself through fighting is what pushed his body over the edge, if Kai had just slinked away to rest then Tah could probably have removed the bullets and patched Kai up. He didn't say anything about not been able to save Kai, figured the sight of him bleeding so badly was enough to drive the fact home for Cross.
---
Kai watches the attackers leave, still growling at them even if his growls are so weak and pathetic they can hardly be heard. Tahmores follows not far behind Cross, keeping his distance so not to intrude on their space. Kai whines softly at Cross, nuzzling his neck softly with his nose, his own blood staining Cross's fur. He knows he is going to die, he can feel it, but Kai is glad that he can be around Cross for it at least he will get to say goodbye.
Without warning one of the vampires had turns and fires one last shot right at Kai, the bullet passing right through Kai's skull. There is a split second when he stands perfectly still then slowly crumples to the ground, motionless, his life spent. Tahmores had been concentrating too much on Kai and Cross to notice the gun been raised, and was only fast enough to fire his own gun after Kai had been shot. The final action done the group now run as fast as they can. Tahmores looks down at Kai's body. "Fuck".

Cross whimpered when Kai nosed at him. He was bleeding so bad. How could he...no. Cross refused to think for even a moment that his lover would die here like this. He looked so weak, like he had already accepted death. Cross whined at him again, as if trying to tell him not to go, not to give up.
Cross instinctively cringed when another shot rang out. This time there was no pain given to him...that is under he saw the mark the shooter had gone for. The bullet had found it's mark in Kai's skull. Still the wolf just sat there for a minute. "Kai?" Cross yipped at his lover, hoping the bullet has only grazed him and he would be ok. That wasn't the case however as the next instant Kai's body fell to the ground lifeless. Cross nosed at the body, as if the realization of his lover's death hadn't set in yet. Soon though the red wolf realized the other wolf wasn't going to get up...ever.
Sorrow quickly filled him before burning away into anger just as fast. Anger at the ones that had injured him, at those who had taken Kai from him. He swore they'd pay for it if it costs him his own life. Rising to his feet despite the pain in his shoulder from the still embedded bullet, he started, albeit slower than normal, in the direction they had run off in.

Tahmores watches Cross nose and nudge Kai's dead body trying to get the wolf to wake up, to make some kind of noise to show that he isn't dead. As much as he doesn't want to interrupt the grieving he knows that they have to move on. "I know you want to go after them and kill them for what they did I understand that I really do, vampires killed my kin too but you follow them and they will lead you into a whole lot of mess where you will be severly outnumbered and every time you try to fight back you will risk biting them and poisoning yourself. You keep walking you're just going to drive that bullet futher and further into your body and it's going to continue to bleed. Also there's what you're going to do with the body. I'm sure we can find somewhere to bury it, somewhere private and out of the way where no one will be able to find it".
"I know you don't even know me, but I'm a wolf too. I know what it's like to see those you care for die right before your very eyes I've gone through that kind of suffering before". He stands in front of Cross. In his human form Tahmores could probably subdue Cross because of his injury but to truly beat him down Tah would need to shift and he didn't feel like doing that tonight, for one thing he is wearing new clothes. "Look just shift back if you can and we'll deal with this".

Cross growled a warning growl that screamed for him to get out of his way. Who’d this guy think he was anyway? Cross was an assassin! He knew the risks of going after them but he was willing to take those risks to avenge his fallen lover.
He did have a point though. What was he going to do with Kai’s body? He almost didn’t want to bury it. To bury it would mean he had accepted that his best friend and lover was never coming back, that they’d never again be together like they were. Cross didn’t know if he could live with that. He knew he would never let go of what happened until he had ended the offenders’ lives utterly. A sharp twinge interrupted his thoughts, causing him to yelp.
"I know you don't even know me, but I'm a wolf too. I know what it's like to see those you care for die right before your very eyes I've gone through that kind of suffering before." he continued. Cross growled again in frustration that he wasn’t being allowed to seek his vengeance. "Look just shift back if you can and we'll deal with this." Cross hung his head. What would shifting back accomplish other than him utterly breaking down in tears from the immense pain he was in both physically and emotionally? Not to mention he’d left his clothes back in the cave. Not that it mattered anyway. Everyone there right then was male. It wasn’t like they hadn’t seen another male naked before.
On the other hand he didn’t quite trust this new guy. The botched mission that resulted in his becoming a werewolf had taught him to be wary of people. Finally deciding on a course of action, he turned back towards the direction the cave was in. He glanced back at the guy with a look that said one thing…
“Don’t leave him here.”
Then he turned and limped back towards the cave, leading the way for the other man to follow.

While standing in front of Cross Tahmores keeps a hand on one of hi guns just incase the wolf decided to do someting irrational in his grief. After all Cross has been through Tah' doesn't want to have to end up killing him to. "So you're going to stay relativly calm then? Good". Tah' goes to Kai's body, still in its wolf form, and kneels beside it. "I'll do what I can to clean the blood away, make him look better. Buring him as he is now, be like dumping roadkill into a hole". "I won't leave him here, God only knows what kind of animals would come to him if I did. He'll be buried with honour as any of our kind should be, he fought and died to protect you"
Leaning down Tahmores picks up Kai's limp body and follows Cross to the cave where Cross then shifts backt o human. Gently he puts down Kai's body and starts to use some cloth to clean away the blood from the dead wovles fur. "You ex-military? I saw your tattoos. I guess you could say I am too, but I was only traind by them, never actually got into the military as a serviceman.Luckily the humans that found me, the ones who trained me, weren't the kind who get all huffy about werewolves been around them. I think they were glad to have one in their ranks for a while. I tended to outdo all of them when it came to using weapons, think it made them want to train harder to see if they could become better than me". He laughs softly to himself. "Name's Tahmores, one of the few wolves in this damn town who isn't a damn animal".

"So you're going to stay relatively calm then? Good." the stranger said, going over to Kai's body, still in its wolf form, and kneeling beside it. "I'll do what I can to clean the blood away, make him look better. Burying him as he is now, be like dumping road kill into a hole." Cross appreciated him doing that much at least. "I won't leave him here. God only knows what kind of animals would come to him if I did. He'll be buried with honor as any of our kind should be, he fought and died to protect you." Cross whimpered at the sound of the word died in the sentence. He never wanted to hear that about anyone he cared about again. He felt like his whole world had been torn apart, leaving a giant hole in its place.
Leaning down, the guy picked up Kai's limp body and followed Cross to the cave. Once there, Cross took a minute to shift back to human form and at least put his pants back on. He watched as the other man gently put Kai's body down and started to use some cloth to clean away the blood from the dead wolf’s fur. "You ex-military?” he asked him. Cross though that was an odd question to ask. “Ex-SAS,” he replied simply. ”I saw your tattoos. I guess you could say I am too, but I was only trained by them, never actually got into the military as a serviceman. Luckily the humans that found me, the ones who trained me, weren't the kind who get all huffy about werewolves been around them. I think they were glad to have one in their ranks for a while. I tended to outdo all of them when it came to using weapons, think it made them want to train harder to see if they could become better than me." he added, laughing softly to himself.
“Fat lot of good it done me in the long run,” Cross added. He felt the anger welling up again, this time at the memory of his past. “Waste of time. If I’d stayed away from it, I’d still be human.” He looked over at the other man and at Kai’s lifeless form. "Name's Tahmores, one of the few wolves in this damn town who isn't a damn animal." the man introduced himself. It was only polite that Cross answer back he supposed. “Cross,” he replied. “Cross McKnight.” He took up a seat near his fallen lover’s corpse and pulled one of his knives. That bullet had to come out and well, they weren’t at any hospital so this was going to hurt like a bitch.

"So you're like a proper solider and everything, well you used to be but you've got the training and everything. Man, makes me look like nothing compared to the things you know. Sure I know how to use guns and knives but you've got real skill, real knowledge of ways to take people down. You know you could help me. Myself and a friend of mine have this sort of group that's made up of wolves. I've been training them to be able to fight but there's only so much I can do, but if you came in well you've got proper military teaching". He looks down at Kai's body, most of the blood now cleaned away, he would have to use some water to get the rest of it off. "That's the best I can do here".
"We've all got things in our that have been done to us or by us that we wish hadn't happened. I wish I hadn't run after my clan had been attacked, I wish the younger ones hadn't gone and provoked those vampires. They're all things we can't change, that we have to live with and learn to deal with. Gotta stop sounding like my father" " Wish we could have met under different circumstances Cross". "You're going to try to take the bullet out yourself aren't you? Guess it's the onyl way, we cant exactly go to a hospital or something they'd start asking questions and that's the last thing we'd need.Look i've got something better than a knife that you can use". From a pocket of his jeans Tah takes out a pair of very thin tweezers. "Here, they'll work better than a knife"

Sure I know how to use guns and knives but you've got real skill, real knowledge of ways to take people down.” Tah told him. “It’s what I was good at when I joined,” Cross told him, wincing and pressing his hand over the wound in his shoulder. The action squeezed a bit of blood from the wound which ran down his arm.
”You know, you could help me. Myself and a friend of mine have this sort of group that's made up of wolves. I've been training them to be able to fight but there's only so much I can do, but if you came in well, you've got proper military teaching." Tah went on to say. “I might be able to help once my shoulder’s healed,” Cross replied. “I’m useless otherwise.” Tah looked down at Kai's body. He’d cleaned most of the blood away so that when Cross chanced a glance at him, it looked like Kai was just sleeping. "That's the best I can do here."
"We've all got things in our lives that have been done to us or by us that we wish hadn't happened. Tah told him. “That being said, Tahmores,” Cross said, looking him right in the eyes. “I’ll never rest until he’s avenged.”
" Wish we could have met under different circumstances Cross." Tah said after a bit. Then he noticed what Cross was up to. "You're going to try to take the bullet out yourself aren't you? Guess it's the only way, we can’t exactly go to a hospital or something they'd start asking questions and that's the last thing we'd need. Look I’ve got something better than a knife that you can use." From a pocket of his jeans, Tah takes out a pair of very thin tweezers. "Here, they'll work better than a knife." “Thanks,” Cross replied, taking the tweezers from him. He tried to grasp them enough to get the bullet out but blood loss made his movements shaky. “Damn it,” he said.

"Your shoulder shouldn't take too long to heal up, maybe a week or so. From the looks of it the bullet hasn't gone in too far". "Well I'm not going to get you to show me anything now while your shoulder is wounded, give you time to get the use of your shoulder and arm back... and of course over your loss". "Do you know if he had any family members in London? Anyone who needs to know of his passing or where you all he had?". He smooths out some of Kai's fur, the wolfs body already rather cold to touch. "I don't know if he'll change back to his human form at some point, I think that if he hasn't now then he won't at all. Still, he'll get a buriel that anyone else would get".
"If you need it I will help you enact your revenge, but only one those who are responsible for killing him. We find those people, punish them and then it's over. This is not an excuse for you to go wild and start rampaging through London confronting any and all humans an vampires who might have ill feelings towards werewolves. You start something like that then I will have to use whatever means to stop you, we have enough problems with image as it is, what we don't need is something like that happening".
Seeing Cross's hand shaking from the pain Tahmores moves closer and takes the tweezer off of him. "Here I'll do it for you, you'll rip open your arm trying to do it yourself like that". Carefully Tahmores makes a few small cuts in the entry wound so that he can open the wound a bit more to get to the bullet. "This is going to hurt". Holding the bullet firmly Tah' slowly starts to pull it out.
