The wizarding world has been through a lot over the years and this year is no different... After the Midsummer Massacre, as the press so lovingly labeled the dance, in 2008 the reputation of Hogwarts plummeted. Parents were more than a little reluctant to send their children off to a school that seemed to time and time again be unable to protect its students from danger. For those who returned they found increased security and high tension within the walls. Over time the tension lessened, though never fully disappeared. It was hard to trust anyone with all the betrayal that happened at the dance. Outside the school it seemed the wizarding world was falling apart. Murders occured more often, attacks on high level Ministry officials shocked and awed. When the Minister of Magic went missing it seemed like the last hope the wizarding people had was gone, unless they decided to rely on the future witches and wizards being taught by a currently unreliable school. All seemed quiet for a time, things even seemed good. It seemed like there was finally light in the world, but in the light things always cast shadows and nothing is really as it seems...
