Do you remember those stories that your mother or father told you when you were little? The stories of far of worlds, of dreamscapes, of princes and princesses? They were fantastical-- gentle bed time stories meant to soothe the mind. But your parents couldn't possibly have known what they were telling you about. Surely they didn't know that the mythical nonsense they were filling your heads with were lies. Because just as the child dreams of disappearing to our world, so, too, do we dream of disappearing to theirs.
So are the words thought by every mortal here. In this land of make believe, where nothing is quite what it seems, humans wish they never would have thought of coming-- because once you come, you don't ever leave.
This dreamscape is a tangled web of problems. The immortals control the hierarchy; and while, we suppose, there may be some kind ones, the kind ones aren't usually in charge of the lands. They've set aside some lands for the mortals who end up here, even if they don't like it, and even if the lands aren't that great; and when a mortal wanders into immortal land, they're free game.
The mortals, meanwhile, are starting to take a stand. If they're going to be stuck in this place forever, they reason, they're going to do something about it. A group named Paratus has been formed, out of earshot of the immortal hierarchy, and they're growing in numbers day by day.
Then there's another, third problem; half-breeds. Unwanted by both, the half-breeds have fled both immortal and mortal lands and reside in the spots right in between. While they want nothing more than to be able to wander where they please, they have to be careful of where they tread, because there are some who would gladly make them trophies.
Our lives have become a constant monody. Where one problem ends, another starts. Dark times flicker and come, and then we are lost within the blindness of our own ignorance. They cannot control us forever, you know.
