The chill night bites at his poorly clothed body, but what use it is to wear much clothing when it's just going to get ripped apart during the change? Just a waste of clothes so it seemed more logical to wear as few articles of clothing as possible. Kai looks around him to make sure there isn't anyone else around who could see him going through the change, not that he thoguht anyone would see him but you never know there could be hunters anywhere. Some could say that Kai looking for somewhere secluded to turn could be because he is ashamed or not fond of what he is, which partly true; he has always thought that had be been human he would have been able to get his dream job as a surgeon but because the high-ups didn't want a werewolf responsible for a humans life he always got passed up... something about the risk of his blood somehow getting into the patients body or even him snapping at the sight of the blood and losing control and turning right there in the operating theater.
The change is never easy, never pleasent. But perhaps that's the price the werewolves must pay for been what they are, for having the strength and abilities that they do; the downside to having a second form is the cuse that it is painful to change into that second form. Sighing to himself Kai closes his eyes and concentrates on changing. It is slow at first, but then there is the sound of cracking bones and ripping muscles. Oh god the pain. Like his body is on fire, his bones are been crushed slowly. Before the pain becomes too much Kai is able to watch his hands twist and become deformed before they become the paws of a wolf. After that his mind is blank, perhaps his minds way of helping him get through the pain by not focusing on it.
Where Kai once stood is a rather scrawny looking light brown wolf. Kai lifts his head, his ears twitching and turning around to pick up on any sounds of people coming towards him, his change wasn't exactly quiet. He ahd come out here tonight to go hunting, since that night he had attacked a human in a fit of blind rage and anger his liking for the hunt had increased greatly. Of course he didn't wan to find another human to attack, this time he hoped to find a nice deer or a few rabbits to sate his urges.

”I got a bad feeling about this, Cross,” Matt said, loading his weapon and putting on his battle gear while he waited for his partner to get ready. “You and me both, Matt,” Cross replied. Something about this mission just didn’t seem right. Not to mention he felt they were being watched. “Let’s just get this over with.” The pair started into the warehouse they were told that the target was in. Matt heard a growling near them but neither of them could see what was making it. “Split up. We can cover more ground that way,” Cross suggested. They split up, Cross going left and Matt going right. It wasn’t long before Cross heard gunshots coming from the direction his partner had gone. Rushing over to where his partner was, he saw the man lying in a growing puddle of blood. He’d been mauled by something.
Kneeling beside his friend, he caught the faint words that he was saying. It sounded like he was saying there target was a wolf. He didn’t get to clarify when he heard the wolf behind him. Turning he saw the wolf charging at him…
At that moment, Cross woke up in a cold sweat. He had been dreaming about the night that he had been bitten by the werewolf. That was something that made his blood run cold every time he thought about it. Running a hand over his face, he looked to his side where his lover slept. Kai had gone somewhere but the question was where? Maybe he had gone out on a hunt or something. Cross decided that he would go out into the forest to see if he was there. The cold night air would do well to clear his mind. Not to mention he hadn’t hunted in a good while.
Getting up and dressed, he headed outside. The cold air pretty much cut right through the long sleeve shirt he had put on but he really didn’t want to mess up his new jacket by shifting in it. Disappearing into the forest, Cross started the shift to his wolf form. Fur of various shades of red sprouted from his body and within minutes he was his wolf self. He sniffed the ground and caught Kai’s scent. He was definantly out here. Lifting his head, Cross howled, as if calling his lover to see just where he was.

The clean night air carried so many scents; human, wolf, vampire and a variety of woodland animals. Tonight Kai is focusing on finding a nice deer or sheep, something nice and filling and fin to take down. He follows a few scent trails bu each time Joe trails have ended cold, the animal probably he had been following could have gone into the bushes or been taken by another predator before Kai could get to it. Annoyed with himself Kai slowly paces along an overgrown hedge thinking that perhaps he should have stayed in the city and just taken someones pet dog or cat, would be an easy meal. Still scuffing around in the dirt looking for mice to pounce on, a pass-time picked up from Cross, Kai's ears suddenly stand up when he hears the sound of another wolfs howl. It takes a few seconds but he recognizes it as Cross. He had been hoping the have been back before Cross wok up but he's not one to sniff at seeing his partner in their wolf form with his red tinted fur. Happily Kai returns the howl to tell Cross he is near and sets off towards where the other wolf is. On reaching Cross, Kai almost throws himself into the other wolf and gives his lover a few playful nips on the scruff of his neck. *** Kai lays down in front Cross, his tail wagging happily. While laying there with Cross, Kai's ears flick around a little picking up the sounds of something moving nearby and the scent of hares and deer are nearby. -Cross hares and deerI can smell them-. Kai stands up quickly, lifting his head to get the scent. -Over here Cross, come hunt them with me-

Cross was beginning to think that maybe the trail he had found of Kai’s was just an old trail until he heard the returning howl. So Kai was around. He got his answer soon enough when the blonde-brown wolf came out of the surrounding bushes. Kai happily bounced around Cross, playfully nipping at the larger wolf’s neck ruff. When he’d come out he’d actually bowled him over. This was the happy go lucky demeanor he had come to expect from Kai. Not the sad what-did-I-do attitude he had a few days ago when he went off in a blind rage after they had had a misunderstanding about a girl at work hitting on Cross.
Cross lay in the snow, catching his breath after playing with Kai. Kai lay down in front of him, his tail wagging a mile a minute. His ears flicked around in different directions, hearing the different sounds of the forest. Cross, who had laid his head on his lover’s back, picked up his head. There were deer and rabbits around he knew that much and it seemed that Kai was hearing the too. -Cross hares and deer I can smell them- Kai said. He stood up quickly, lifting his head to get the scent. -Over here Cross, come hunt them with me- he added. A hunt would do his mind some good. Get his mind off that dream that he had had earlier. –Sure. I could use a distraction- Cross replied. He sniffed the air then took off in the direction of a deer.

The deer was already skittsh to begin with so had bolted as soon as it had heard Cross and Kai coming. Growling a little Kai is quickly behind the deer, snapping his teeth at the animals back legs, every now and then lashing out with his paws in attempts to trip the deer and bring it down. Kai chases the deer for a good five minutes and he is starting to get a little tired. Pausing for just a moment Kai leaps forwards and digs his claws into the deers rump and falls back a little, dragging his claws through the animals flesh. As he drops to the ground Kai bites down on one of the deers hind legs and twists his head, snapping the bone, bringing the deer down to the ground.
The deer twitches on the ground and Kai stands beside it waiting for Cross to catch and finish the catch off. The taste of the animals blood on his tongue and the smell up his nose makes him shiver a little and he barks happily and sits down beside the deer, once more his tail wagging like mad. -Cross come here, I took it down, I'm waiting for you to come finish it-. Ah it's good to go on a hunt again, to chase down his prey and bringing it to the ground... oh it's such a rush and there's nothing like it in the world.

The deer they were after bolted the second it sensed that there were wolves around. Kai chased after it, snapping at his legs to try and trip it –Don’t get kicked, Kai- Cross barked, running after the deer as well. The blonde-brown wolf chased the deer for a good five minutes before he looked to be getting tired. The cold seemed to be sapping his strength. He jumped up onto the deer’s hind end, holding onto it with his claws and teeth. Of course he couldn’t stay on like that and slid off, gashing open the deer’s hide as he came off. He grabbed the deer’s hind foot as he hit the ground. A good crunch saw the captured foot broken.
With it’s leg snapped by the wolf’s jaws, the deer stumbled and fell. It struggled to get up and regain it’s footing as Cross and Kai circled. -Cross come here, I took it down, I'm waiting for you to come finish it- Kai barked. That was Cross’ cue to move in for the kill. The other wolf was sitting nearby the distressed animal, his tail wagging like a hyper puppy’s. Cross could smell the blood from the wounds his lover had inflicted on the poor animal. It made his nose tingle and his mouth started watering.
Walking up to the deer, which was eyeing him, he grabbed hold of the animal’s neck. The deer’s life ebbed away as Cross clamped down on the throat. If it hadn’t bled to death from his teeth cutting the blood vessels then it would have suffocated. Either way, the deer was now their dinner. He let the animal drop from his mouth. –Come on, Kai- he barked, letting his partner know it was dinner time.

He was lucky not to get seriously hurt by the deers hooves as it kicked out, but he didn't get away totally unscathed; one of the deers kicks had connected with the side of Kai's head, giving him a deep cut just below his ear. It had bled a fair bit but wasn't too serious, nothing some time and the werewolfs excellerated healing couldn't fix. He watches Cross finish off the deer, he could have done it himself but why should he have all the fun and get the glory of taking down their prey? He should at least give Cross some part of it, it seemed like the only fair thing to do since he knew Cross liked the thrill of the kill just as much as he did. The deer twitches a few times as it suffocates, then it just lays still on the ground.
–Come on, Kai-
Grinning happily Kai moves towars the body of the deer, but doesn't go t eating it strait away. -You have first taste Cross--. Sure it had been Kai who brought the deer down but Kai saw Cross as the sort of dominant wolf. Perhaos because Cross was the one who actually knew how to fight and was stronger. Even though Kai has been a wolf longer than his partner he has never been one for fighting, prefering more to outrun or tire out whoever is chasing him. He wouldn't tell this to Cross though since he saw the two wolves as equals.

-You have first taste Cross- Kai said when he told him to come to the kill to eat. In Cross’ eyes, the two wolves were equals, yet Kai treated him like the alpha of their pack. Or pair rather. Sure he was the more forward of the two and he was a little larger than his lover, but that was just Cross. Either way, just to appease Kai, he started in on the carcass. After he’d torn off a bit of the meat, he looked up at Kai. He noticed the little bit of blood that had now dried on his fur. -Told you to be careful- he said. He licked the spot to get rid of the blood spot. He didn’t like seeing any sign of his partner being hurt.
-Come on, let’s eat- he said once he had licked the spot off. He wasn’t about to tell Kai that he knew why he was treating him a little different. A part of him found it annoying but another part kind of enjoyed the special attention that he was shown. But then that was Kai for you. He was the more submissive of the two wolves while Cross was more aggressive and forward about everything. Subtle wasn’t in his vocabulary.

Kai turns his head to nuzzle against Cross's neck softly, his ear flicking a few times as Cross cleans away the dried blood. -It's nothing, just a cut, the bleeding has stopped already-. Even though the wound has stopped bleeding and is healing Kai does like the caring attention Cross gives him, it just shows Kai that Cross really does care about him, not that there had ever been any real doubt in his mind of that fact he's always been a sucker for love and attention. -Come on, let's eat-. In a way Kai felt that he had been given permission by Cross to now take his share of the deer meat, maybe he has been spending too much time in his wolf form and the way his wolf mind works is starting to bleed out into his human mind. Kai shakes his head and clears his nose, the idea sounding stupid. Stepping up to the deer carcass Kai eagerly fills his belly with the raw meat. When done eating Kai trots over to Cross and bumps his head against Cross's side playfully. -A good night, happy that I spent it with you-. His stoamch full with food and feeling a little lathargic from it Kai sits in front of Cross and licks some of the blood away from the other wolfs face and nuzzles against his neck and chest. *** After about an hour of resting and letting the food settle in their stomachs Kai stands up slowly, he had layed down against Cross. Still in their wolf forms Kai stretches his back a little and yawns. He had been warm pressed up against Cross but now that he has moved the cold is starting creep through him. Gently he nudges Cross head with his nose. -Come on, let's go, it's freezing-/.

Cross looked up when he heard Kai snort as if clearing his nose. What was going through the wolf’s head he had no clue. Soon enough, the blonde-brown wolf joined him at the kill. If anyone came up on them, they’d just see a couple wolves feeding from a kill. They wouldn’t see a couple of werewolves in wolf form. That made that time that they spent out in the woods that much more peaceful. Sure it was cold, as noted when Cross happened to shake a bit, but their fur warded that off a bit. Cross chuckled a bit when his mate came over and bumped him playfully in the side. Apparently he was done eating off of the carcass. -A good night, happy that I spent it with you- he said. He sat in front of Cross and started to lick away the remnants of the deer blood that he had on his muzzle. –Glad I could spend it with you too- he replied, nuzzling the other wolf every now and then. ***** Cross lay cuddled up to Kai. They had been resting for about an hour or so after they had eaten. He must have fallen asleep. It was entirely possible with a belly full of deer meat. He woke up when Kai got up and stretched. His head had been lying across his back so the movement had jarred him awake. Kai nudged him a bit. -Come on, let's go, it's freezing- he said. The cold was starting to get a little unbearable. Standing, Cross shook the snow from his fur. –Alright. Let’s go home and get warm- he replied, starting to head towards their apartment.

The idea that his wolf mind could be leaking out into his human mind and making him act as a wolf would in his human form would have made Kai laugh if he could, it was just stupid. He had to admit though there were times when he wondered what it would be like to stay in his wolf form for a elongated period of time. Would he start acting like a proper wolf? What would happen if he went back to his human form after been a wolf for so long? Perhaps he'd still act like an animal even in his human form; growling, howling, wanting to hunt wild animals. Hmm, maybe it wasn't such an appealing idea after all.
–Alright. Let’s go home and get warm-
Kai barks happily and trots ahead of Cross, his mood lifted greatly having spent the night with Cross. Kai stops suddenly, lowers himself down to the ground and goes stalking off towards a patch of bushes. There are sounds of him scuffling around in the bushes for a moment before be pops out and comes walking back to Cross, a few mice hanging from his mouth, their tails stuck between his teeth, the mice still alive but not moving. He knows how much Cross likes chasing down mice so he thought he'd go find some for his mate to play with.
He shakes his head to daze the mice a little then drops them down on the ground, prodding one with his paw until it squeeks and tries to dash away. Before it can get too far away Kai has jumped forwards and landed on it with one paw.
