Basic Personality: Squall can be described as a kind of ‘happy person’. Friendly and outgoing, he has one of those infectious personalities that you can’t help but love. He does have that classic guy temper though. Squall can be really, REALLY stubborn though. Often times, this causes tension at school and at home, starting fights with his family. Mostly he just butts heads with his dad or his cousins when they get unruly.
Squall is also very protective. Mostly of his little sister, Hiromi. He’s not on very good terms with his father, who’s a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. This is because of abuse he suffered at his dad’s hands when his dad got drunk or high or worse both. On the other hand, he gets along well with his cousins who he currently lives with, despite Hideko’s constant teasing about him being gay.
Squall also has a sensitive side. This is the side of him that is scared to admit his sexuality and is easily offended about some things.

† History †
History: Squall wasn’t born into a rich family. Quite the opposite actually. Well that’s not entirely true. See his parents both had high end jobs – his mom was a social worker and his dad a lawyer – but his dad got heavy into drugs and alcohol so the funds started going more and more towards fueling that addiction. Because of this, Squall and his baby sister Hiromi went without some things we take for granted today like game systems and all.
When he hit high school age, Squall took a local job as a clerk at a local store but he kept his money saved in places where his dad couldn’t get at them if he wasn’t around. Needless to say, his dad didn’t like this much. In fact, as he got deeper and deeper into his addictions, he became increasingly more violent and abusive towards Squall and his mother. Little Hiromi managed to avoid her father’s wrath by some sheer dumb luck.
Things did get better after Squall turned 15. He and Hiromi were sent to live with their mother’s sister while their father was put through rehab by the court after being caught with the drugs that he had spent their funds on. Their aunt had two twin boys, Hideko and Hikaru, both a year younger than Squall. Around 16, almost 17, was when Squall discovered that he was more interested in guys than girls. In fact he didn’t like girls ‘in that way’ but guys he did. He even slept with one of the guys in his class, a foreign exchange student from the states. Hide teased him about it for a good couple of months until it didn’t bother him anymore. Still he didn’t want to admit to it for fear of ridicule.
Soon his lover had to go back home so they called off their relationship but decided to stay in touch with each other.
