[/center]† General Information †
Full Name: Colonel Valerie Desdemona Castoro
Nicknames: The Valkyrie
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Age: 109
Age they appear: Late twenties
Occupation: Marine Corps colonel (Ret.); Actress; Hacker/High-ranking intelligence officer for Izan
Orientation: Bisexual
Health Problems: Deathly allergic to bees; those associated with being a vampire.
† Personality †
Basic Personality: Valerie is most often seen as very cold, and mostly, that’s exactly what she is. She is entirely goal-oriented and will stop at nothing to achieve her own ends; indeed, she is often underestimated as to just how far she is willing to go. This has been cited as one of the things that makes her so valuable, but believe it or not, she believes in working for the greater good, even if that greater good implies that the few must be sacrificed to save the many. She will use anything she can to complete her mission, and it doesn’t stop at getting personal; to Val, her sexuality and blindingly good looks are just another weapon in her arsenal—and she certainly knows how to use it.
However, when Valerie is around her family, she changes dramatically. The Castoros are a tight-knit family of vampires, and she is a very affectionate daughter, sister, cousin, and heir to the Castoro legacy (it has been pointed out that this quality is very similar to Tybalt of Romeo and Juliet fame).

† History †
History: Valerie was born around 2087 in Boston to Angela Castoro and her husband, Duncan. The Castoros were well-known as the richest, most influential vampire family in the vampire-controlled Boston area, a family full of lawyers, politicians, and the like. As the eldest child in the Castoro line, Valerie was, and continues to be, the heir apparent to the Castoro legacy. After Valerie came her younger twin brothers, Samuel and Jeremy, and her youngest sister, Rebecca. Raised along with the four siblings were a myriad of cousins.
Being that Boston was controlled by vampires, and that vampire age much more slowly than humans from the get-go, Valerie was 25 by the time she graduated top of her class from the elite all-vampire high school to which her parents sent her. Although the popular rumor was that she was headed to Harvard Law School to follow in her father’s footsteps, Val shocked spectators when she applied and was accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, expressing an interest in joining the US Marine Corps, an organization well-known for being especially friendly to having vampires in the officer ranks due to their tendency towards discipline and good leadership skills.
Once at West Point, Valerie flourished. Always goal-oriented and a natural leader, Val thrived under the pressure put on her in West Point, and over her years there, she confirmed that she did plan on enlisting in the Marine Corps.
And after graduation, that is exactly what she did. Marine boot camp was far tougher than anything at West Point. In the first three weeks, Val lost fifteen pounds of fat she didn’t even know she had (she was naturally quite slender) and quickly gained nearly thirty pounds of muscle. Along with these physical changes, in her training Val was instilled with hard-earned lessons in how to achieve her objective, whatever it may be, which augmented her already driven and determined nature.
Valerie spent nearly sixty years in the Marines as an officer. Her first jobs involved recon and aerial drop, as well as some linguistics later on. She did two tours in Venezuela, three in Costa Rica, and one in Ireland, all of which saw intense fighting at different times, often involving guerrilla tactics by werewolf rebels. In between these tours, there were often missions that could easily be called black ops—mostly because Valerie is still forbidden to give information on them to this day. During this time, Val showed herself to be a brilliant combat leader and what is often called a “father to her men” (it’s not a perfect metaphor, but it fit); because of this excellence, she worked her way up through the ranks and was soon a colonel. It was also during this time that she attained her nickname: Valkyrie Castoro.
Valerie retired from the Marines at age 91 after nearly sixty-three years of faithful service. Although at first she was quite bitter about her retirement (they practically forced her out), she learned to cope with everyday life, and spent about five years back in Boston with her family. She took up some hobbies to help her cope with boredom, including acting. She started small, and then made her way to Broadway and even a couple of films, though she remained small-time. Along with acting, she also took up a more dangerous pastime: hacking. At first it wasn’t hacking, per se, but soon she found herself addicted to the exciting online world, and recycled her old handle, The Valkyrie.
Bored with her surroundings, Valerie decided to move to London, where she heard there was a treaty between the vampires and werewolves. She didn’t see how it was possible, so she went to see for herself. What she experienced was what amounted to a secret cyber war; they couldn’t fight openly, but damned if they weren’t trying to get at each other every other way. She quickly linked herself up with Izan, the biggest vampire organization around, and started hacking and gathering information for them. Much like in the army, she moved quickly up the ranks and soon found herself a high-ranking and highly influential member. So it was illegal, so what—it gave her the excitement she’d been craving since she’d retired. To this day, she keeps her cover as an actress on West End’s stage, but her bigger job is working for Izan.
