Here be the species that can be rped in the forum. This is just an explanation of what they can or can't do and all that.
Vampires are considered to be inferior by the werewolves who are in charge of London. They still have rights over any humans, but not more than the werewolves of the town. The origin of the vampires is unknown, but they are considered to be a subspecies of humans because of their uncanny resemblance to them. This, however, could never be proved.
These are the leaders of the place. They have the most money, the most power and basically do whatever they want. They are simply untouchable. The only exception are werewolves who were previously human and had been turned by another werewolf. These types are considered as low and worthless as the humans. Go figure. It is unknown how the werewolves came to be, but rumor is that it has to do with some environmental mutation and that there are also other kinds of wers. However, the truth on this matter remains a mystery and apparently not even the werewolves know.
Lowest of the low, the humans are just considered food or slaves among the werewolves or vampires. Although they are allowed to live their lives - work and go to school - they are considered an inferior race. Humans barely have a right to speak, but that doesn't mean they just quit living.
† Vampires †
Vampires are considered to be inferior by the werewolves who are in charge of London. They still have rights over any humans, but not more than the werewolves of the town. The origin of the vampires is unknown, but they are considered to be a subspecies of humans because of their uncanny resemblance to them. This, however, could never be proved.
-Vampires need to drink blood to live. They have no pulse or heartbeat, so the nutrients necessary for their survival has to be obtained from some outer source, meaning blood. It doesn't matter much where they get blood as long as it's blood.
-Vampires need to drink blood as often as humans need to eat. Of course, this would depend from individual to individual, but they need blood at least once a day and can only last about three days without it. Blood is just their substitute for food.
-They can eat some human food. However, the amount is very limited, but if the meat is rare and the rest of the food is dressed in blood, they can eat larger portions. Although if vampires eat more human food than their bodies can handle, they will vomit it all out, including everything they have in their stomach, meaning blood they might have drunk during the time. After the get rid of all the human food in their bodies, they will go in a frenzy that won't stop until they have their blood.
-They can identify a werewolf only when the werewolf is in wolf shape. Otherwise they just look and smell like any other human. The other difference is that a werewolves’ blood tastes different than a human's - much different. The blood of a werewolf, when ingested, can cause a vampire to feel weak or even dizzy. They do not tolerate their blood well.
-They have the same physical appearance as humans. The only difference is that their temperature is normally slightly below the current temperature that day. They can't create body heat of their own, thus they are usually cold to the touch and they're not really bothered by cool or hot climates. They are more like cold-blooded reptiles in this regard. The other notable difference is that they posses fangs. The length of their canines varies from individual to individual, but they are always there. No hiding fangs or anything along those lines.
-They are much stronger and faster than humans and could easily break the bones of a human's arm or leg with a punch or kick. Vampires also tire much slower than humans since they lack a heartbeat and do not need to breathe. In fact, it's hard to catch a vampire even the slightest bit tired at all.
-Vampires can be wounded just like any other human. If they fall they can scrape their knees and if they jump from the seventh floor of the building...well, let's just say it won't be pretty. However, the difference between a human and vampire lies in the fact that they can heal much faster than humans, especially when given blood. The only way to kill a vampire is by providing a death blow, like decapitation. They can also die of blood loss, but they can heal any wound, given that they get blood before time runs out.
-Vampires can reproduce with humans, in which case the offspring will most likely be a vampire. However, because of some genetic screw up vampires cannot reproduce with werewolves. The kid is either born dead or dies shortly after birth. Vampires can also reproduce with another vampire.
-To become a vampire, the most common way is to be born one, since vampires rarely consider humans much more than food and they hardly ever turn them. However, if a vampire chose to turn a human, the vampire must drain the human's body almost completely of all blood and hope the human is strong enough to survive. It is rare and extremely painful to be changed by a bite, but if you survive long enough to complete the change, well, welcome to the world of vampires.
-Vampires can only suffer from a select number of health problems. The first one is their allergy to the sun. Most vampires cannot go out in the sun, or else they risk suffering injuries (and probably losing most of their skin). It is not known why the defect shows itself so much on vampires, but about 80% of them suffer from a severe allergy to sunlight. The other health problem (which all vampires suffer from, no exceptions) is that their eyes posses extreme sensibility to any kind of light. If a vampire hangs around too much in light, he or she will probably end up blind. Even the light generated by light bulbs seems to bother them, but most vampires have learned to cope with it.
-No matter how dark it is, a vampire can always see rather well.
-They have enhanced senses, far more sensitive than any human's.
-A vampire can easily communicate via hisses, growls or snarls.
-A born vampire stops ageing around their early twenties. In the case of a bitten human being older than that, they will stop ageing completely. Born vampires age slowly. Normally they look about ten at the age of eighteen and take about forty years to completely finish their ageing (by the end, they would look about mid-twenties, depending the individual they could look younger or older)
† Werewolves †
These are the leaders of the place. They have the most money, the most power and basically do whatever they want. They are simply untouchable. The only exception are werewolves who were previously human and had been turned by another werewolf. These types are considered as low and worthless as the humans. Go figure. It is unknown how the werewolves came to be, but rumor is that it has to do with some environmental mutation and that there are also other kinds of wers. However, the truth on this matter remains a mystery and apparently not even the werewolves know.
-Werewolves can change shape to that of a canine. The canines are larger and stockier with shorter legs and ears than common day wolves. They hold more resemblance to dire wolves. They also appear to be more aggressive. Werewolves do not need the moon at all to shape shift. They just do so in their own free will.
-Shape shifting can be extremely painful, since you are basically reshaping all the bones and muscles in your body. Although it is possible to get used to the pain, it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt.
-When wolves, they have the senses of a wolf. When humans, they have the senses of a human. The only exceptions is that when human they are sturdier than the common human and seem to have more tolerance for pain or illness. They also appear to be stronger and faster than humans, but their senses remain the same.
-When wolves, they can be as fast and strong as any vampire. They can be as tall as 4'8" and weigh around 125-200 pounds. They are far larger than dogs and a human could easily identify them as a werewolf or at least a way-too-big-to-be-true dog. Their fur color is basically different shades of their original, human hair color. In the case of the werewolf having dyed his/her as a human, the wolf form will have their hair around the dyed area the same color. Ex. If they were to dye all the hair on their head purple, then when wolf, they would have the fur on their head purple. They also see like any other human when in wolf form and are only color blind if they carry the color blind gene.
-When wolves they cannot talk at all. They communicate via barks, growls and body language like their fur bristling, etc. Although they can understand human speech, they can't speak it (they don't have the vocal cords for it). Werewolves also CANNOT use telepathy to communicate with other werewolves. In their wolf forms, they are like wolves and can only communicate like wolves.
-Werewolves can reproduce with humans, in which case the offspring will most likely be a werewolf. However, because of some genetic screw up werewolves cannot reproduce with vampires. The kid is either born dead or dies shortly after birth. Werewolves can also reproduce with another werewolf.
-A werewolf can die of a fatal injury. Although, unlike vampires, they don't have a problem with the sun and they can suffer from different health problems, most of them being the same as humans. They are immune to any type of cancer or immune deficiency syndrome, but any other illness seems to give them great trouble - even some lousy sniffles.
-Werewolves eat meat, preferably raw. Anything else could cause them trouble. Basically, there is no such thing as a vegetarian werewolf.
-In order to be a werewolf, you must either be born one or gotten bitten by one. A human bitten by a werewolf has little rate of survival because of all the bacteria transfered in the bite. But with all that bacteria, you might be lucky and also get the one that creates the shape shifting effect in werewolves. Even so, a human has no idea if he or she might be in danger of succumbing to the bacteria until a month has passed, where they either change into a wolf or die.
-When they change, the werewolf has to take off their clothes or rip them to shreds. Same goes for jewelery. Piercings can cause wounds when they change, thus those are recommended to be removed as well. Scars acquired when they look human will be reflected in their wolf appearance and vice-versa. Tattoos on the wolf are normally just patches of nothing but naked skin, but in the case of the tattoo being small, it will probably be covered by fur.
-Like vampires, werewolves age slowly. Either born or bitten, they stop ageing around their twenties. In the case the human is older than their mid-twenties and have been bitten, they will stop ageing completely. Born werewolves take about eighteen years to look ten years old and their ageing ends when they are around forty years of age, although they would simply appear to be around their mid twenties (this however depends from individual to individual)
† Humans †
Lowest of the low, the humans are just considered food or slaves among the werewolves or vampires. Although they are allowed to live their lives - work and go to school - they are considered an inferior race. Humans barely have a right to speak, but that doesn't mean they just quit living.
-Simple, you're human, right?...Wait...what do you mean no?
-Humans can reproduce with both vampires and werewolves and the offspring will most likely be either a werewolf or vampire (depending on the species of the mother/father). Miscarriages are common if the human is a woman and the male is a vampire or werewolf.
-The survival rate is low for a human to be either turned into a werewolf or vampire.
