Year 2019: London is the city it has always been. The center of England, a mix between the old and the modern, a place were economy prospers and is perhaps one of the most famous city in Europe. Ancient stone buildings mixed with cement, glass and metal. You can always catch a taste of the old and new - of history and present. It's certainly the type of city that catches the eye and attention of everyone. Everything was well in this part of London, until May first, 2019. This day is known as End Day.
8:15, Hyde Park: It started off as a beautiful sunny morning. The light filtered through the leaves, giving the ground a brighter look. The temperature felt completely perfect, not too much sun, not too much cloud. A perfect day for a nice walk. A peaceful morning and some could say, a perfect morning. Even now you could see a few early risers enjoying a stroll under the morning light.
12:33, West End: A man drove steadily on - making his way toward a tiny restaurant at the edge of the block. It was simply out of habit that he went there for a bite. He hummed pleasantly to the radio's tune, concentrating on the beat of the music rather than what was in front of his eyes. If he had been looking ahead he would have noticed that the vehicles in front of him ceased suddenly. He would have heard the squeal of wheels as a car tried to hit the brakes, but even then, it would have been too late. The only thing he did heard was the crash, the particular sounds that erupts when metal scraps against metal. A bit shocked, he raised his gaze, only to see that a car had crashed against a lamp post. If he had been watching the road ahead of him, he would have noticed that speeding toward him was an ambulance - an ambulance in a hurry. The driver tried to honk in time, but couldn't prevent the two vehicles from colliding. Two dead, three wounded.
2:48, Clerkenwell: "Open the cash register, I'm not gonna repeat myself!" came the voice of a masked man as he pointed the gun at the forehead of a trembling bartender. If it weren't for the dead woman now lying on the floor with crimson blood staining the tiles, the man would have found the thieves comical. Apparently they didn't have enough time to buy masks, since they had put black socks on their head, which seemed to have squeezed their head a little to hard - they fidgeted with the black fabric frequently and the socks had tears in its side. But of course, because of the dead woman the bartender did exactly as he was asked and quickly opened the cash register, shoving the money toward one of the masked maniacs. The thief nodded his head jerkily a few times before taking the money and dumping it inside - what looked - like a potato sack. He then gestured for his five companions to follow him and they turned away. But before they had the chance to leave, he had another idea and turned around to send a shot through the bartender's head.
4:51, West End: With a sigh of utter relief, the police officer closed the door on the snarling crook's face. These idiots had caused a total of four deaths, and after some struggle they were finally caught. He looked through the car window to see the crook baring his twisted teeth at him and rolling his eyes. The police officer decided to avert his gaze, but his eyes landed on the body of a fellow officer, who's body lay sprawled on the ground. With another sigh, he decided to just leave it in the past and opened the door to the vehicle, got in and drove away.
7:05, Broadgate: Angry and annoyed, a kid stomps his way up the stairs, making sure every step he made caused the wood vibrate beneath his feet in hopes that something will fall and crash dramatically to the floor. His parents share a glance and shake their heads in mock horror. The kid, deciding that was the end of it, goes to his room, slams the door shut and turns toward his backpack. He then goes through his clothes in his bureau and with a sigh of resentment, slams the drawers shut and turns toward his backpack, packing only whatever he would need for entertainment. He then scrambles out the window and slides down the tree that stood nearby. Easy enough, he thinks, satisfied with his work. A hiss comes from somewhere behind him, but when he turns around, it's already to late.
9:22, Mayfair: Myth has come to life in London. Shadows turn into monsters from nightmares and no one is safe. But how could it be? Without a warning, without a second glance. It seemed impossible. Bodies lay piled over supposedly historical monuments like rag dolls, laying there for the world to see. Blood stains the ground, turning the gray cement crimson and in the distance screams, gurgles, growls and hisses are heard. Houses and building fall to the ground like pieces of paper. In the horror, no one even dared to think why such a thing happened. What good would that do? There was nothing they could do to stop it.
11:48, Paternoster Square: The wind whistled through the ruins and empty landscape. A piece of bloodstained newspaper rolled like a tumbleweed through the ghost town. Crashed cars, broken windows, bloodied streets, deceased bodies. A massacre, certainly. Something that wasn't suppose to happen, yet it did. No explanations and so far, no survivors.
Year 2196:
Somehow, some humans survived the onslaught. As for what really happened, no one is completely sure and the only thing they know is stories. Apparently everything was all about werewolves and vampires fighting for territory. What no one was prepared for was mythical creatures coming to life. But what done is done and that lies in the past.
Now, werewolves are the boss of London. They are is charge of everything in the town, from laws to economy, it's all in their hands. The food chain has changed and now werewolves are on top, followed by vampires and lastly humans. At first, wars and battles still raged between the two species, but apparently they have singed a treaty and London in under the werewolf's greedy claws. But what happens when the ones in charge don't know what to do with the town?
The Mafia takes charge.
Crime is found everywhere nowadays. A death a day is fairly common. All the money that comes into London eventually falls into the thief's hands. Law seems to hold no charge at all, and as for humans? Well, they are at the mercy of their superiors. Even so, life continues. Humans still go to school, go to college and get jobs. The difference is that they now have a looming shadow with fangs or claws following their every step, waiting for them to be alone.
