It was another still night in London, another just like the one before that, and before that...it was like the city had no pulse...Liam ventured that it was dead inside, like the majority of its denizens, and he wasn't too certain what came came first...did the supernaturals come because this place was a shell? Or did this place become a shell thanks to all the leeches and dogs feeding off of it?
He grumbled as he started a small fire in a nearby trashcan, disposing of some soiled clothes that would no doubt be looked upon suspiciously if he kept them, instead he pulled on another easily replaced plain t-shirt and stepped out onto the street. It was still around here, but never quiet.
The sounds of people, automobiles and general city life always managed to keep Liam on high alert, it wasn't hard to imagine the sound of grinding gears as something more sinister...like grinding fangs. Of course, the assassin was mindful that it could just be his paranoia getting the better of him. He wasn't hunting now, he was...as far as anyone was concerned, no different than any other moral wandering the streets on a dark night. Dressed a bit scarily...yes, but he was just like anyone else.
For a moment that was almost enough to soothe the familiar strangeness in his and the cow will circle the mooooon!, for now, he was normal. It was almost terms to celebrate, but how? He walked with an odd lope to his step as he wandered down the street, it was almost a sliding gait that turned into a bit of a tap move...like he was dancing.
He was in rare form today, a good mood, a smile on his face, a spring in his step, he knew better than to get too wrapped up in his madness, since he had to take caution when hunting monsters, least he became one himself...

It was really late out. Although Rebecca was able to handle her own against any unfriendly or unsavory sort that may cross her path, she'd much rather prefer to be at home, safe. She could feel the small handgun she had with her through the fabric of her jeans and the other small objects she had made sure to be kept on her person at all times. The feel of her "security measures" relaxed her a little. Just a little. She was still a rather paranoid woman who knew her way around. She wasn't going to be the next meal for any supernatural beings, after all.
She really shouldn't have decided to take a walk after dinner. The trouble of getting back always ruined her enjoyable strolls. London wasn't safe anymore, even if she had sided with an organization of vampires. The organization was still kept secret and offered next to no protection for her. To any run of the mill vampire, she was just their next meal. Of course, she was going to prevent that from happening. She had a sister that depended on her after all.
Despite the quiet tension that had found its way under her skin, Rebecca had to be honest. Tonight was quite lovely so far. She had not run across one person yet and it was great. She often took strolls to relieve her mind from day-to-day stress and problems that found its way to her when she was at work. Being cooped up in a building with vampires is still a little unsettling, but only with the younger ones who couldn't control their urges just yet.
Of course, the peace that had been her companion just couldn't stay. Some prior engagement of some sort. As soon as she turned the corner, she caught the scent of burning and spotted a figure walking away from a nearby a trashcan. The small trail of smoke from the trashcan provided the last piece of evidence for her.
However, what other people did were their own business. She didn't need to intrude and bother with them. She quickly decided that she was going to continue on walking, turning a blind eye to the fire. It's not like it was going to spread anyways. Rebecca liked to avoid conflict unless absolutely necessary and definitely wasn't going to provoke a strange man into a fight.
Unfortunately, they were both walking in the same direction. And for quite some time, presumably. Or perhaps he had no destination in mind, sort of like her. Nonetheless, as she followed his loping gait, she was slowly catching up. One thing she had always prided herself on was her fast pace, now she wished she would just be able to walk much more slowly. She didn't want to catch up and didn't want to expose her back to a fire starting stranger.
It took a few minutes, but she was finally at his side. It would be suspicious to just stop walking and wait for him to get ahead, and it would be ridiculous to turn into another street to avoid him completely. She had more sense than that and besides, she was a citizen of London and had every right to go wherever she wished it. She opted to stay at his pace. Whether he would comment on it or not, she didn't care. To him, she was probably just another human woman. She sure dressed casually enough: ankle boots, jeans, a scarf, and a warm jacket to ward off the cold. And so, they walked.
Yeah, you've no idea how many times I wonder if I should slow down or walk in another direction in order to avoid running into someone. I'm just creepy I guess.

When the sounds of the city turned into footsteps was about the time that Liam got leery, his glance darting about hectically as he finally pinpointed the sight of an auburn haired woman. Pretty, but of course, he really didn't put much stock in that. But she seemed like she had no ill intentions, which settled him somewhat.
The strut in his step died, but he did indeed keep walking, it was happenstance he was certain, that he and she were currently walking the same way, but given the look of him...a short jackbooted neo-Nazi looking thug, and her, a relatively harmless looking lady, he had to admit, that she was probably more concerned than he was.
Which was saying something, because currently the assassin was damn near shitting himself that perhaps he had been hunted down. "Evening." he finally spoke when they were abreast, trying to break the tension with a greeting, and a slight tip of his torn up head, his tone was surprisingly even and sweet, in stark contrast to appearance. "Lovely weather we're having." It was inane of course to try to make small talk, but he really had no reason to scare anyone. It wasn't as though he enjoyed such things.
Really he was not quite sure what was going on here, walking side by side now was just a bit too strange, but like hell he was going to speed up or slow down given the circumstances, if he walked behind her, she might call the cops that he was some sort of ax-murdering rapist, and if he walked ahead...well what if she were some sort of ax-murdering rapist?
It was just bad and awkward all around.

She was quickly regretting her decision to not walk away. If she had taken a turn and walked an extra block or two, this whole unfortunate situation wouldn't be happening. She was just about to turn round, damned what the man thought, when he spoke. His voice was startlingly calm and sweet. She twitched a little in a start but recovered promptly. However, she had to look up at him to make sure that the words had come out of his own mouth. "Good evening," She replied quietly in a neutral tone. Now that he had started conversation it would be down right rude of her to ignore him - no matter how much she was tempted to. She feigned a shudder and rubbed her arms a little in an attempt to warm up, "If this is lovely weather, I think I'll have to book my flight to Hawaii immediately." She said in some semblance of good-natured humor. She looked at the lightly frosted pavement. Hawaii certainly didn't have to deal with this problem. "I'm Rebecca, by the way. And you are?"
Idle chitchat and boring talk about the weather were not things she liked to devote time to. She was not really interested in such things. They were tedious and very unnecessary in her opinion. She could already predict the gist of how their conversation would play out. It'll be brief, dull, polite and formal. Eventually one of them would finally decide that they have had enough and go 'oh well, this is my stop. It's been lovely, really. I hope to see you around?' and then they'll separate and never see each other ever again. Or if they did have the misfortune to run into another again, they'd pretend to be strangers to avoid the awkwardness and the slight possibility that the other had forgotten them.

Oh, it seemed that Rebecca was a lady of oh so little faith of how strange her present company was. Certainly it started the route she thought it would, such awkward small talk, a certain faux pas of talking to someone that he had never met. But that was just the tip of the iceberg, there was just something broken about the man next to her...and he would no doubt...let that cat out of the bag.
"If this is lovely weather, I think I'll have to book my flight to Hawaii immediately."
Liam scoffed, rolling his eyes as he lifted his lip ever so slightly. "Of all the..." he took a long deep breath, yes, for some reason he just couldn't stomach this sort of thing. "Listen, what the hell did you see?" The assassin just got this feeling that she had seen something, and his paranoia was just starting to get the best of him. Like hell he was going to rat her out, to whatever it was...that she had seen.
"For your information, I wasn't doing anything, okay?" There was just a fiery intensity in his stare, after all, he had just been burning his blood soaked clothes, he was certain he had reason to be worried. "Nothing."
But of course Liam wasn't going to go completely all crazy just in case. He'd cover his ass. "Listen, my name is...Ulysses, I was at this party, and this guy had puked on my shirt...I was...just getting rid of the thing." He nodded, no doubt making the situation worse than the poor woman could ever imagine.

She had thought that everything was going fine. Or fine as talking to a complete stranger could go. Unfortunately, she had miscalculated. She was slightly taken aback at the rather hostile attitude her...what was he? Her acquaintance? Yes, her acquaintance just displayed. However, she was quick to recover. He had mumbled something beforehand, something she didn't quite catch, but the next words she did, loud and clear. He thought she saw something. And she did, sort of. An idiot would have been able to put two and two together. But he didn't know that for sure.
If his first question didn't seem sketchy enough, his denial of doing "anything" seemed to reinforce his guilt. He had taken the time to pin her with a stormy glare and if she was anyone else, she would've been running the opposite direction. But she wasn't just anyone. A mere human man couldn't intimidate her that easily.
She almost rolled her eyes at his fake name. Who the hell named their kid Ulysses nowadays? But at least the guy knew his classics, she thought. Well, if he wanted to play a game, she'll gladly play along. "Of course you were at the party, Ulysses. Everyone was. Did you happen to meet a Michelle Heathe? She was an old classmate of mine and lives in the area." She sighed, weaving her hand lightheartedly through her hair, "I was supposed to go and catch up, but I think she left before I arrived. Did you see her? She's about this high," She lifted her arm and raised it an inch or two below her eyes, "And likes to dye her hair strange colors. The last time I saw her, she was a pinkette."

Liam looked over at Rebecca with a bit of a dubious look as she continued to talk, perhaps he had expected her to run off, or at least try to avoid him after his outburst, and now he found himself at a loss for a moment of what to do. His face scrunched up a little as he looked her over, this time with a bit more scrutiny, something was up.
This wasn't right.
"No. I did not see nor do I know a Michelle Heathe. Was she the one that was hosting the party?" There was such a practiced politeness to his tone, even as he attempted to slur his speech. He wasn't too bad at playing the paranoid drunk in a pinch. Even trying to mirror her gesture of height 'drunkenly' as the woman did it. "Didn't see her. Think I would have recognized someone with pink hair...I think."
He grumbled a little, rubbing at his eyes under his glasses, maybe he had done a girl in like that, but it was no girl, what he had sent back to hell was a monster that stalked the night feeding off innocents. He couldn't be worried about moral quandaries of taking care of trash like that. Even if it apparently had friends...

It seemed that she had chosen the right course of action. In her past experience, when faced with a confrontation, it was usually better for her if she decided to back down or at least divert the conversation. Ulysses was obviously taken aback by her response to his hostile attitude. Unfortunately, he was getting suspicious. Who wouldn't, after all, they had both supposedly attended a fictitious party. She would be sorely tempted to smack some sense into him if he wasn't suspicious. "Oh no, she probably wasn't the hostess. She could never get anything together, poor thing." She said, waving a hand airily between them. A small smile, with the right mix of disappointment and chilly politeness, crossed her face. "Well, I suppose she did change her coloring again. The chemicals must be getting to her head."
She couldn't help it. The more she talked about her made believe long-lost friend, the more she liked her. In her mind, she saw a friendly young woman, a mix between her and her sister, with a penchant for trouble. Goofy, a little too ditzy for her own good, and an all around dear. She couldn't help but grin a little.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted him rubbing his eyes, the poor 'drunken' man. Seeing as he didn't reek of alcohol from the party that didn't exist, he couldn't possibly be drunk. Nevertheless, she let it slide in order to carry on with this game of theirs. It wasn't like her story was any more truthful. "Are you alright, Ulysses? You're not going to keel over on me, are you?" She sounded more wary than concerned, but since he was technically 'drunk' she gathered he wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
