The way he had just sort of stared at Gwen for a moment in the car still makes him feel like a bit of an idiot. Why he'd kept looking at her for that long he wasn't sure. He'd just turned around to end up face to face to Gwen, in that moment he'd found himself unsure of what to do exactly so Amos had just stared at her the feeling of the awkwardness not fully dawning on him right away. Mentally scolding himself and calling himself an idiot Amos locks up the car, checks that they're properly locked a couple of times then joins Gwen on her side of the car and walks towards the cafe.
"You're sweet"
"Thankyou. I try to be nice to people most of the time, but given the type of city we live in it can be hard. You're lucky to have caught me in a fairly good mood when I'm not letting my nerves get the best of me, most times when I talk to someone I end up stuttering and looking like a fool. Probably would have just given you the number of the tow company then left". He puts a hand on Gwen's shoulder. "You'll get sick of me eventually". A half smile plays on his lips, himself not really sure if he's been serious or joking. He hopes that she doesn't get tired of him, Amos needs company in his life it's no good to just spend all his time at work or at home finding ways to keep himself busy.
He follows beside Gwen to order their food, ordering some juice and a burger with every kind of condiment he could get on it; lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese, sauce. By the end the burger didn't look like it could be eaten like most burgers which is fine by Amos since he has a particular habit when it comes to eating burgers. When the cashier goes to give the price of Gwens food to her Amos catches his attention and motions that he would be paying for the two of them. The food paid for Amos goes with Gwen to a spare table and starts to take apart the burger that had been made for him. His little habit is to take burgers apart and eat each part one by one, usually the top bun and lettuce first then the bottom bun and patte. The food taken apart Amos looks at Gwen and grins. "Don't even ask, it's something I started doing a while back and now it's how I eat every burger i get".

It was the slightest bit amusing when listening to Amos speak, how he would ramble on for a while and then stop as any one normal would do at the end of his thought. Sometimes, Gwen guessed that he revealed more about himself in his words than he would like to. But, he said that he usually didn’t talk to people like this, that he was a more reserved person, introverted. Thank goodness that she had caught him on a good day, as he had put it, because she would not have been fond of taking a ride home in some nasty tow truck. And it was nice to be able to have a little company and go out to eat some place you’d never been to before. This Amos, she liked the way he was, obviously, since she had trusted him enough to drive her. Now with his hand on her shoulder, she leaned in toward him, enjoying the touch.
"You'll get sick of me eventually.”
The woman let out a soft, good hearted chuckle and nudged him gently in the hip with her elbow. “I’m sure you could keep me entertained for at least a few days.” Bobbing her head slightly to a song that had started to pain in her mind, Gwen made her way into the café and up to the counter to place her order. She then stood back, Amos coming up behind her and waited for him to get his own food, which was apparently quite elaborate; he must be picky, or just hungry. When he was finished, she dug around in her pocket and was about to offer him a few bills to help pay for the food when he went ahead and took care of it by himself.
Their food was brought out fairly fast, seeing as most people were already sitting down enjoying their… lunch? dinner? Not that it mattered, any time of the day was fine for eating. She follows Amos back to a table and was about to start in on her soup when she caught something very odd that the man was doing. Piece by piece, he separated the burger apart to eat each piece individually. She can only stare at him for a while, as this something she had never seen anyone do before, but then she simply shrugs it off, not being one to judge other people’s weird habits. Lifting her bowl up to chest height, so that she wouldn’t be forced to bend awkwardly forward, she spooned a little bit of the hot liquid into her mouth, to make sure it tasted right. She glanced up from her food momentarily to see that Amos was still going at his burger.
"Don't even ask, it's something I started doing a while back and now it's how I eat every burger i get.”
Gwen grinned back at him. “To each their own,” she chuckled, setting her bowl back down and instead picking up her cup, “we’ve all got strange habits… Sometimes, I find myself imitating people even if I don’t mean to. It’s amusing to some, incredibly annoying to others. I suppose I’m a bit like a parrot.” She shrugged softly, half-grinning over at Amos.

“I’m sure you could keep me entertained for at least a few days"
"I'll try my best to make sure been around me isn't boring, hasn't been that bad so far right? And I haven't really been trying. I think that once I start actually trying that's when it could get boring as it usually does when someone is trying to hard to be interesting or funny. I like this, just hanging out with someone. I lost my closest friends to vampires some time ago, after that it was hard to just 'hang out'". "Hope you don't mind me paying for things. It's not that I don't think you could afford it I just feel obliged to since you're day has been kinda crap and things that my mother taught that, like that the man should pay for meals when eating with a woman, told me to always be a gentleman".
His way of eating burgers is messy but not as much as if he'd tried to eat it as a whole and ended up with the sauce spilling out, at least this way he won't get a mess everywhere. He folds the top bun in half with the lettuce and mayo and rather delicately eats it. "So what do you do as a job if you don't mind me asking? Got to be better than me with my glorified secretary job". Checking his watch Amos takes out a small white pill bottle from his jeans pocket, unscrews the lid and taps out a few coloured pills. "Gotta take these things for my back. It was nearly broken and didn't heal properly. I can still move around fine but I gotta take the pills to manage some pain that comes and goes and to keep down some swelling. They tell me that if I stop taking the pills the swelling could get bad enough that it would crush my spinal cord and I'd end up paralyzed".
"Sometimes, I find myself imitating people even if I don’t mean to. It’s amusing to some, incredibly annoying to others. I suppose I’m a bit like a parrot"
"Worst I do is have some tics in my hands and eyes so you've got nothing to worry about if you start to mimic me. I won't find it annoying if you do, I've spent a great deal of time around the kids my aunt and uncles had so I'm used to little things that would usually annoy most other people". Taking drink Amos pops the painkiller and anti-inflammatory pills, making a face at the horrible dry taste they leave in his mouth. "So after we're done here you looking to head back to yours?".

Watching Amos pull apart his burger like that almost caused Gwen to giggle, but she didn't want to seem immature and so she held herself back, only letting a bit of a smile pull her lips up into a curve. Though she couldn't quite stop herself from just staring at him. He sort of reminded her of a child, a handsome child at that, one that was picky about his food touching or one with OCD.
"So what do you do as a job if you don't mind me asking? Got to be better than me with my glorified secretary job."
"It's not that much better," she chuckled, running a finger around the rim of her bowl. "I'm a sale's rep for the jeweler in town. I sit around most of the day on the phone, but I get to travel sometimes and they give me free stuff." She lifted a hand to push her hair to the side, showing him the earrings she wore.
Her smile fell a little now as the man pulled out a prescription bottle and poured out a few pills, for pain he said. Nodding softly, in comprehension, Gwen lifted up her soup to take a few sips and to cover up the frown that was threatening to sully her expression. The nearly broken back apparently didn't bother him so much, yet being a rather sensitive person, she couldn't help but pity him, at least a tiny bit, She would try not to let him know this though; they were actually getting along rather well, and he had a good sense of humor.
"So after we're done here you looking to head back to yours?"
Smiling softly, Gwen set down her near empty bowl and placed a hand on the table, her other lifting up to fix her hair. "Yah, I am," she sighed, leaning back in her chair. "It would be really nice to get out of these work clothes." She picked up her cup to finish up its contents and continued to watch Amos, looking for those tics he'd mention, just so that she could avoid, accidentally even, mimicking him, despite what he'd said about not minding it.
