It's 27 years since Harry defeated Lord Voldemort, and there are beginning to be calls coming into the Ministry of Magic from unknown sources. More and more non-wizard families want to train their children in magic. Now it is a well known fact that creatures like house elves and goblins can do magic. There are other's that can too. Half vampires, if they are born to a wizard and a vampire, are able to do everything a wizard can do. If a wizard is turned vampire they can also do magic. Faerie children, no matter if they be pixy, elf, kelpie or otherwise, can do magic. There are Centaur, which when trained, can produce the same magic as a wizard could with training. There are also other creatures like Centaurs, half human half animal, that can do magic. These creatures range from half cats, dogs, even rabbits! They can all do magic, just as wizards. These people say if Hogwarts allow halfbloods from wizards and humans, even muggle borns, they should allow other breeds to attend their school as well. Many parents find this far too dangerous. The ministry had immediatly declined the offer, and held their say in the matter no matter how many threats came in.
The Hogwarts Headmistress, Luna Lovegood, didn't even learn about these requests until she received both a letter from a vampire, and strikes started breaking out. Luna, being the loving person she was, gladly accepted these students with open arms. She of course made new rules to ensure all students safety. The ministry was furious, and demanded to have several of their aurors sit in on the school. After a harsh negotiation an agreement was settled on. Luna would only allow the Ministry to infultrait the school if she could choose the Aurors who came. She chose some of the best. Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley were asked to come. Also there were others like Hermione Granger, and while she is not an Auror, she does hold a high place in the Ministry as the wizarding equivilent of a forensic scientist. Luna took extra precautions, making sure she knew each person who came personally. She did not want the Ministry to take over the school like Professor Umbridge had.
Many students are excited about the new arrivals, but there are also some who find it appalling that they have to share classrooms, and dorms, with these creatures. Of course there is going to be trouble with a mess of new students arriving, even with several Aurors lurking about. This could be Hogwart's most exciting year yet!
