It wasn’t uncommon for there to be a ton of cats in West End. It also wasn’t uncommon for there to be a line of them fighting their way to the top floor of this building, nicknamed Feline's Fancy by the locals, sneaking down from the roof inside, slithery as a snack, but much more fun, considering they were furry. What was so intriguing here? The door had a cat door, for one. Most people were far too paranoid to leave such an open gateway into their door. But any werewolf would have to be the size of…well, a cat… to get in, so the tenant felt relatively safe. Besides- her darlings would let her know if anyone were to barge in, unbidden, and unwelcome. Particularly if they smelled like a dog.
As for the dogs themselves ,after the first few times the small one had been bashed over the head with the most convenient pseudo weapon there was, they’d learned that once a cat got in there, to give it up. And the cats certainly did like to go in there. The smell of food either lingered or radiated from the place nearly all the time. The most delectable smells, fish sometimes, beef and pork others. Most dangerously, was when she drizzled them with blood before serving. Not for herself, of course. But, for the cats, it was just perfect to soften some things up for the kittens.
The perfectly blanched hair on her head was pulled back loosely by a tie halfway down its length, causing the rest to pool in front of the soft curve of her jaw. At the moment, the smile on her face hid the normal sharpness from her demeanor, as she let herself be caught away in the purr of three cats curling around her legs, meowing delicately. Others weren’t quite so gentle about it. A few were periodically yowling at her as they watched intense eyes, as Winter Raine let the final sprinkle of catnip fall on the plate. A perfect assortment of beef tips and chicken chunks, slightly browned in a butter and salmon flavored sauce. Making enough for a dozen cats meant quite a lot, but it was certainly worth it.
"Order up, my duckies."
Three kittens in the corner however, couldn’t compete in the rush to the plate that the others were getting in on, and Winter gave a smile, pulling a bag of dried cat food from the cupboard and pouring some out, she sat it down. Turning back to the fridge, she pulled out a red cup at the same time, and drizzling a little bit of chilled blood over the mix. Beef blood, of course. She just kept it before she cooked the meat itself. Speaking of which. Sticking a pale hand into the chaos that was the meal, she rescued a few true chunks and sprinkled them over the less appetizing dry mixture.
“Here you go darlings~ I couldn’t forget …about… you….”
But apparently she could be distracted. A calico cat had just slipped in the door. While she was used to random cats…this was calico she hadn’t seen before. And yes, she did remember most of the cats that came in. This girl seemed to be drawn in by the food, or perhaps she just smelled all the mess. Winter approached cautiously, before scooping the cat up into her arms.
“Awww… aren’t we precious… Come to join my little brood? Always room for one more feline.” Winter’s hand found the cat’s ear and began scratching, sending the cat itself into a peaceful thrall of purrs and into a bit of a ragdoll state in her arms. She was just so cute... Winter's feature fell even softer than before as she held the purring bundle.
